Currently 34 weeks and bubs is breech. Wondering if anyone has had their waters break at home with a breech baby and what you did/what happened when u got to hosp? Our hosp is about a 25 min drive away, though we could push it to 15/20 if my waters did go lol.

Yep. Waters broke with a gush with DS.
We discovered he was footling breech an hour or 2 later.

BikeRunSki · 03/05/2020 19:47

then he was born by emcs .

@BikeRunSki ohh! How far along were you? Did you go to hosp straight away or call Ambulance etc.? My fluids are a little raised at the moment so I'm trying to prepare if they broke!

DS was not breach but was back to back, the waters didn’t broke even after hours in labour. The midwife had to break them and DS was born 6 hrs later.

Waters went at home at 40+2 in the early evening. We already knew dd was breech and had planned for a vaginal delivery (2nd baby, very experienced hospital and consultant led). Went straight into hospital and was monitored immediately. Had registrar come and check the baby, and then was left to see how I progressed as was not really contracting and only 4cm. I was nil by mouth in case of c section so was on a drop for fluids. By 5am I still hadn't gone into active labour so I opted for a section, however I could have waited another 12ish hours if I wanted to.

Mine went with a gush when I was out, had time to go home and pack my bags and then drive to hospital.
Nurses asked if I wanted a c section that night (it was about 10pm) or to wait till morning. I was nervous about waiting so I had a c section that night.

Yes mine broke at 38 weeks; I thought I'd wet myself! Didn't know she was breech until we got to hospital. Ended up as EMCS, but all went well.

OffThePlanet · 03/05/2020 19:58

I knew I was having a breech birth about a month before. My waters broke with a gush about thirteen hours before my baby was born. She was ten days early and I had no inkling I was so close to giving birth, except I was madly cleaning that day as we were having a party.

Yes waters broke at my party. Blush

harrischase · 03/05/2020 19:59

Yes, currently in hospital as my waters have gone, baby is unstable lie but breech.

Have had steroids and antibiotics, trying to keep me as close to 37 weeks to deliver as possible.

harrischase · 03/05/2020 20:00

Meant to say I have no signs of labour and third night in hospital

whatnow40 · 03/05/2020 20:00

My waters didn't break, I had a small bleed at 37 + 2. I was 2cm dilated and went to 8cm in 45 mins. I had an EMCS but was in such quick labour we nearly didn't make it. DS was footling breech.

2020lockdown · 03/05/2020 20:15

@harrischase hope you're ok! How far along are you?

34+3

It's difficult at the moment because they're no visitors (understandable) but the thought of not seeing DH/ DD for another few weeks plus obsessive google searching is driving me up the wall.

My waters just went when I went to the toilet, I didn't even realise at first as it was just blood.

BikeRunSki · 03/05/2020 21:31

@2020lockdown
Waters went at 11.30pm, plug went, hospital said to come in.
Hospital sent us home
Contractions started on the way home
Laboured at home for a bit
Went back to hospital around 5am
Student midwife did an exam and realised ds was footling breech and I was taken to theatre, where DS was born at 6.30am.0

FirstTimeBumps · 03/05/2020 21:35

Waters went at 5.30am. Early labour, non-regulat contractions. Baby finally born by EMCS at 3pm the following day when they worked out he was breech. Like others mines went with a massive gush. When they say oh your waters probably won't go like in films and TV, that's exactly how they went 🤣

SunbathingDragon · 03/05/2020 21:39

Yes my waters went with a breech baby. It’s not a real emergency as such. You should have plenty of time to get to hospital and then wait for theatre. It would almost certainly be many times quicker to get there yourself than call an ambulance.

LoobyLoo101 · 03/05/2020 22:22

@harrischase I was in EXACTLY the same situation last week, with waters having gone at 31 weeks and baby in transverse position. I was in hospital for four days, alternating between googling and crying over missing my son. Then the baby turned breech and they said I could go home, with appointments three times a week for monitoring. It’s scary being home and away from all the nurses and their tests, but I think better than an indefinite hospital stay. Have they said you’ll have to be in until you deliver?

harrischase · 03/05/2020 23:02

@LoobyLoo101

How are you feeling now? I'm really glad you got home.

Yes, they have said there is zero chance of me getting home, the baby keeps moving positions so they have said I am at high risk of cord prolapse.

They want to do a c section at 37 weeks, feels forever away!

HappyBee18 · 06/05/2020 20:31

My waters week at 37 weeks at 2.30am, baby was born at 1pm by c section.

Hope all goes well

LoobyLoo101 · 09/05/2020 16:22

@harrischase how are you getting on?

I’m 34 weeks tomorrow, have a growth scan on Monday and then will hopefully have a clear idea of what’s going on. Pretty sure the baby is still breech, judging by where the kicks are.
