So I'm 36 weeks, with baby number 4, c section booked for May 21st but am desperate to go into labour before then.

Tell me your early labour signs, the weirder the better!

@redwoodmazza That made me laugh 😆
I love how men will do anything to make you just pile down and let them sleep!

I was so, so grumpy the day before I went into labour! I also felt a little bit nauseous, but I put this down to eating too much chocolate cake to try and counteract the grumpiness. Then at 4am the next day I woke with period-like pain (but in my back) every 10 minutes. Got up to go to the toilet and realised I was losing my mucus plug (it was a lot more obvious than I thought it would be, haha). 12 hours later I had given birth!

@FleasAndKeef That sounds like quite a good start to labour (she says focussing on the intake of chocolate cake....) How many weeks were you?

I was very due by 4 days and was up half the night with terrible heartburn screaming to my husband 'this baby needs to come out today' my friend told me to nipple tweak so I thought I'd give it a shot and got out a breast pump and I kid you not my contractions started within 15 mins. I stood up and waters broke all over the settee. I know this isnt what you asked but thought I'd share. Good luck x

TwinkleStars15 · 30/04/2020 20:32

@Hardheadedwoman39 if you really want to go into labour naturally beforehand, why have you booked a section date?

Hardheadedwoman39 · 30/04/2020 20:36

@Laylor that's incredible! Maybe I should crack out the breast pump in a week or so....

@TwinkleStars15 Good question - I'm 42 and was induced with my last one which failed and ended in a c section after 4 days of being in hospital - horrendous..

Because of my age the minute I hit 40 weeks they will start the pressure to induce/won't let me go over.

Also I have an issue with my blood platelets which could limit my anaesthetic options - if they dip too low (which they are on course to do so again) then I'd have to have a c section under general anaesthetic with no partner allowed and both of us missing the birth.

All very boring.....

@Hardheadedwoman39 I only ask because you hear so much about women feeling like they have no choices when it comes to birthing their own child, it makes me sad/angry. If you don’t want to be induced, you have every right to decline it. I was being pressured into having an induction first time round, which I continuously declined as I felt so strongly about not wanting it (having read about how many inductions lead to complications and emergency sections) and I had the most delightful ‘normal’ birth without any of the complication they warned me about. That’s all Smile

Hardheadedwoman39 · 30/04/2020 20:56

@TwinkleStars15 Thank you, I totally agree, feeling pressured into something is horrible and that definitely felt like the case last time. That's why I've sort of gone with a preemptive decision - section at 39 weeks with a big fingers crossed for having naturally beforehand....I can still say no to the section too....I'll be cracking out the breast pump in a few weeks and stirring gravy 😂

I didn't realise what was happening at the time, but I was very restless all day and I needed to get out So we went for a drive. I remember having to recline my seat in the car because I felt uncomfortable. We got home and I watched tv while my husband made dinner and then my waters broke and that was it!

ednatheevilwitch · 30/04/2020 21:43

I was at soft play with my friends and toddlers and kept having to go to the loo because I thought I needed a poo all the time. We then went back to my friends and fed the kids and my friends were saying 'you're niggling into labour' - that afternoon I had a check up and was told I was starting to dilate. Went home to get my stuff and strap a tens machine on and then my baby arrived a few hours later.....
