Hi

Does anyone know if 200c of arnica is ok to take after childbirth or is that only recommended for c-sections?

200c is better!

FWIW I used 2 x 200c dissolved in a bottle of water that I sipped post birth. I found this (with some chamomilla) fabulous for conteracting afterpains.

We refilled the bottle evry 4-6 hours iirc for about 5 days.

Thanks for your replies ladies, I used 30c after DD but my sister was told to get 200c, since I haven't seen the 200c in the shops (only over the internet) I wondered if it was just used in special cases.

Will get some in for the hossie bag.

You can get 200c from Helios but I'm not sure if any shops would stock it.... if oyu're in a metropolis you may get lucky but not in my neck of woods....

I've got some arnica plants which I grew and am terrified of the stuff as it is fatally poisonous (in plant form)! Be careful!

200c - for both ways of labour. Helios stock online - otherwise ainsworth pharmacy in central london are stockists as are the bigger Neals Yards - if they have offer homeopathy at the branch, they will have it. I took it after the section and swear by it.

oh and when taking it - dont ask me why - dont touch the tablet, tip one into the lid and place it underneath your tongue.

hertsnessex · 17/09/2007 08:25

it lessens the effectiveness if you touch it i believe.

i but all my stuff form helios, they are very quick at sending things out.

FWIW I really think you should have this prescribed rather than taking it because someone else says it's good.

hertsnessex · 17/09/2007 13:41

You can go to a homeopath - but if you buy a pregnany and birth homeopathy kit they come with it. Also ask youre MW, im sure she will recommend getting some. Dr's certainly dont prescribe this though.

hi - from my understanding, it really doesnt need prescripion - is widely used for recovery after childbirth and everyone I came across from a medical perspective recommmended picking some up online/ via one of the places i mentioned. i initially got it for VB but once I knew i needed to take it for CS, i rang ainsworth up and one of the lovely people there told me exactly what doses they recommended to take.

hi..ive just ordered arnica 30c is that a high enough dose to be effective? or have i just wasted my money im due on the 14th feb! x

bex- start with 30c pre delivery and if you feel like it you could take 200c post delivery but it might be best to speak to a homeopath who specialises in this area. Here is the number of Jan Calvert she is a qualified homeopath who specialises in babies and pregnancies 07748183533

Go into ur local health food shop they'l be able to tell you. My midwife told me a lower dosage and I only found out when re-stocking...just double check as it is worth it.
