Anyone who's had a planned c section in past few weeks - where partner can't come onto ward - do I need anything particular in my bag?

I have a c section planned for 27th May and whilst I'm HOPING things will have changed by then and partner will be able to come to postnatal ward, I'm preparing myself to be heading in there alone.

Have all the usual suspects for my hospital bag..nighties, slippers/flip flops, big pants, but as I might be there on my own for 24 hours min, is there anything else people who've recently had a c section would suggest? My mums lending me her grabber so I don't have to bend down to get stuff from my case! Anything else people found helpful?

Thanks.

Earplugs. Silicon ones from boots that mould to your ears. iPad or similar with pre downloaded stuff for if you cant get to sleep onto iplayer/Netflix etc. Range of snacks!

Good advice. Snacks as you won't be able
to get out of bed until they have taken your catheter out and you will be ravenous! And earplugs in case the night staff decide to have an impromptu karaoke party how I wish I was joking

Maybe a drinks bottle with a straw will be easier rather than trying to balance those little cups of water they give you esp if you're holding baby.

Food, not just snacks, real substantial stuff Grin

I have just had a c section in Glasgow, I find the midwives are always very attentive but in these special circumstances they have been extra and are always checking in to make sure you are ok and if you need anything. I would bring more than just snacks if possible, maybe like pot noodles. All my hospital seems to have for lunch and dinner is sandwiches!

Peppermint tea/capsules for trapped wind from section, paracetamol in case they are slow at giving it, an extra change of pj's in case you bleed more than you expect, more pads than you think you need!

Stealing someone else's idea from on here - a scarf to tie to the end of the bed so you can pull yourself up.

I've packed each outfit (mine and baby's) in a clear ziplock bag. So baby has vest, sleep suit and nappy in each bag. Makes it much easier to ask a nurse to just give me a bag without having to sort through all my stuff
