28+5, signs of labour?

Hiya, I am currently 28+5 and was admitted to the maternity unit earlier in the week with pain in my lower back on the right side and minor cramping. I would have only gone to the doctors about this as I suspected it was just a pretty standard UTI. However, I was sent straight to mat unit where they confirmed an infection but also did an Actim Partus test which showed positive. Therefore I was kept in and given steroids to help with baby’s lungs in case he did decide to make an early appearance. By the time I was admitted I’d had a lot more pain and was given Oramorph, which wore off and I was in pain again a few hours later which went off after I was sick this time. Both lots of pain immediately made me stand up and start swaying as that’s how my body felt like it naturally needed to cope. I had slight braxton hick type tightenings the next day so after my second steroid shot I decided to go home as I felt the antibiotics must have started working. However, the back pain has started very very slowly increasing since I’ve been home - particularly made worse laying down or in the bath. I’m extremely emotional too and had bouts of nausea and now gone off food completely. I have the strangest feeling that something isn’t right but don’t want to be over dramatic if it’s nothing and I just need to wait for the infection to clear up. Anyone else had a similar experience or am I just over thinking?

Sorry to hear you've been in so much pain. I couldn't tell you what's wrong and hopefully someone more knowledgeable will turn up, but I think you should absolutely trust your instinct on this.

I would call the maternity unit and express your pain and worries. Take care

Yes, I also think you need to call your midwife /maternity unit. Better do it and everything turn out to be fine, than not do it when there's something potentially wrong !

And if you can't contact them I'd go back in to see them. Just to be on the safe side.
