We have our blood spot test appointment tomorrow. Is this just an appointment for baby or will they do a check on me to? If I ask them to check my episiotomy stitches will they be able to do this?

Maybe it depends where you are but every check up or appointment I had for my DC in the first few days they checked me too - blood pressure, asking about stitches etc. I’m sure if you ask they’ll be able to help.

I would contact your midwife and ask because it’s likely that arrangements might be different in different areas. It’s possible the appointment is going to take place somewhere without space or time you you to undress and be examined. The best thing to do is telephone your hospitals maternity assessment and ask for advice.

I had a home visit from the midwife at 5 days (I've suffered bad after my birth and can barely walk at the moment) she happily checked my stitches for me as I had 2nd degree tear and didn't think it was healing well, she just didn't touch me and basically asked me to part my downstairs so she could have a good gander, she was happy with how I was healing thankfully. They're a midwife at the end of the day, it's a major part of their job. Good luck 🤞

They normally do - just ask for it

@HighOnStilts this is how I am at the minute - I only gave birth on Sunday but I'm so sore and can hardly walk or do anything. I'm really struggling 😩

@sunshinevalentine Oh sweetheart I feel your pain, I'm 12 days PP now but I've got either sciatica or pelvic girdle pain, that or I've strained something during birth, my baby was back to back so my delivery was quite intense. I gave birth in a birthing pool on no pain relief so I think I've done some damage when I was pushing. Basically I am absolute agony when I walk now and god knows how I'll get a GP appointment given the current circumstances.
Let me know how you get on with the Midwife wont you? X

My midwives offered at each check (3 5 and 7 days). I would be very surprised if they said no if you asked! However it may be worth checking beforehand just in case the room you're in doesnt have the necessary equipment to do the check.
