Adhesive left after c-section dressing removed

Can someone recommend how to best remove leftover adhesive from my c-section wound. The midwife removed my dressing today but there’s a good bit left. I’m scared that my underwear will start sticking to the scar.

I'm guessing running with a light oil such as olive oil might be worth a try? Got to be better than acetone or similar which I would normally use but not near a recent open surgical wound. I'm sure better suggestions will follow - all I would say is be gentle.

Leave it alone. At least until the stitches have been out a few days. Then baby oil will get it off. Your clothes won’t stick to it very much.

Leave it until you feel like you can have a long hot shower abd at the end of the shower gently rub a warm flannel. Might take a few days depending on pain/sensitivity.

Oil removes sticky stuff. You could use your fingers to gently rub it in or a cotton bud but be very, very careful of the incision.

Keep it away from your scar but acetone, usually found in nail varnish remover, gets rid of it. Please be careful though.

It's what I used to clean ECG cables when I was still working.

Do you mean the single plastic type strip? Mine was removed by the doctor 24 hours post op. I was left with no dressing whatsoever. I felt like my insides were going to spill out.

Zoff wipes are amazing. You can get them from Amazon.

Mine was there was ages until I put some olive oil in it and it rubbed off

eurochick · 04/04/2020 08:17

I left mine just to wear off over time.

Don't use acetone. A nurse removed the sticky stuff for me after my c section. It left me with burns which were more painful than the actual wound

Pinkywoo · 04/04/2020 08:20

Same as @eurochick, I just let it wear off.

Dozer · 04/04/2020 08:21

It won’t stick to clothes.

Oh this drove me crazy! I tried everything but it was tenacious stuff. In the end, I used to lie on the bed after a shower and gently rub the stuff with just my fingers and it warmed up, then rolled into little balls that I could pick off. Took a good few days to get it all though!

Baby oil should do the trick
