Unnecessary Induction?

My due date is the 31st March, and i always wanted as natural a birth as possible. First child - I'm 29, low-risk pregnancy.

At my 20 weeks scan apparently I had abnormal uterine doppler readings, which I was told were nothing to worry about, but I would need more growth scans to make sure everything was okay.

Growth scans at 28 and 36 weeks were perfect - baby is pretty much perfectly average for growth. No issues with the whole pregnancy.

I found out yesterday that even though everything has been fine, because I had abnormal readings at 20 weeks, the hospital policy is to induce you on the due date?

I'm kinda worried. I really don't want an induction. The consultant said I could alternatively have a scan on my due date, but it's not 100% guaranteed a failsafe, and part of me thinks if anything did happen to my baby because i waited I wouldn't be able to live with myself! So i've agreed to it (induction is booked for April 1st, one day after due date) but I'm having second thoughts. I've been having contractions and tightenings for a week and a half so my body is getting ready naturally. I asked for a sweep yesterday and she said I was soft and admitted a fingertip. Again, contractions have been on and off all day.

I'm just sitting here feeling lost and really worried. I REALLY don't want a c section or intervention, but I've read how inductions really increase likelihood? Really not sure what to do!!!

You don't have to have an induction is the simple answer. They have their policies and recommendations but you don't have to follow them. However, those recommendations are there for a reason and that's to keep your child safe and give you the best chance of delivering a healthy baby.

I was induced for preeclampsia and other than the induction itself I didn't have any other interventions. There's nothing saying you will need interventions just because you're induced. Just like there's nothing saying you won't need interventions just because your labour starts naturally. What will be will be and it'll be worth it all once you've got your little one in your arms
