Planned C Section

I'm having my second baby via planned c section next Wednesday. Nervous as I am anyway with all this virus stuff visiting has been stopped so as soon as baby is born I'll be on my own with no support from my partner.

Can anyone tell me how long they were in hospital for after a planned section please?

I spoke to my midwife as I'm having one in 3 weeks before all this started they like u home 24 hours after providing all is well and the time of your section so if you have it Wednesday morning you could be home by Thursday tea time xx

Aw Thankyou for replying ☺️ I meant to ask but with all the information I was a bit overwhelmed.

I had my baby Thursday morning at 10am and they said I could go the next afternoon. I chose to stay another night to help with breastfeeding but they were more than happy to let me go before. Good luck

Thankyou @Twistering :) x

@Twistering how are you coping with recovery?

Home 36hrs after my EMCS and 17hrs after my ELCS. I was desperate to be home both times, post natal ward is not restful. TBH one of the worst things was the noise and visitors so less of that might actually be good.

I had planned section under GA so on my own without hubby. I was allowed to go home next day. Goodluck with it all

dearyme89 · 26/03/2020 21:44

Hope you're ok OP! I'm in for mine on Monday too so know just how you feel Thanks

Mine was booked in for 38+6 but went into labour over night at 38+4. So planned but ended up needed a category 2 emergency instead as labour was progressing quickly. Have the hospital said he isn’t allowed to stay. As ours said no visitors but birth partners were able to stay. They also do enhanced recovery at most hospitals which mean providing you are low risk, you can mobilise and baby is feeding and well you can be home within 24 hours. Good luck to you. It was a much nicer and calmer experience than I was expecting.

My consultant said they will be discharging by 24 hours if not complications

I also hated the post natal ward stay over last time, was in 3 days.
DH went home so he could rest so at least one of us was ok but I hated the noise from all the rest of the visitors and men who stayed overnight so quite glad it will be quieter on the wards

MrsBtobe1208 · 31/03/2020 16:39

Yes they said that today after I had my steroid injections that they aim to have me out in 24 hours as long as everything is fine ☺️

They said that he can stay until baby is born then can have 2 separate 1 hour visits in the day though with our 2 year old I can't see that being possible apart from once on the Thursday and then more than likely when he picks me up on the Friday (all being well) x

Hi!

I had a C section last Fri at 10:30am and was home on the Saturday by 1230.

They said within 24 hours if all was well :).

NemophilistRebel · 01/04/2020 01:39

Has anyone had a planned c section postponed or cancelled?

dearyme89 · 01/04/2020 11:26

I had mine Monday, was 25 hours in from start to finish. Hope all goes perfectly.

NemophilistRebel · 01/04/2020 11:27

Thank you. And congratulations Smile

Two nights with my DS, as the surgeon had accidentally made a small cut on his bottom with the scalpel when he made the incision and wanted to make sure it was healing well before we were discharged. DS was transverse breech and very awkward to get out so I didn't blame the surgeon at all. With my DD, 17 months later, I was home less than 24 hours after the c-section.

Coastercat · 01/04/2020 14:14

If no one here has commented to say that they have had a c-section cancelled, hopefully we can conclude that they are not being cancelled.

Mummylanie3 · 01/04/2020 17:31

My consultant told me elective section would not be cancelled due to the pandemic it's not like hip or knee surgery where u can put it off 6 months she said they will all go ahead only way they would be cancelled is if they had lots of emergencies that day that needed sections and even then you just get pushed further down the list so may only be till next day xx

Stopstandinginthepotty · 01/04/2020 17:44

I had mine at about 10 and left the afternoon of the day after, but I was nagging any Nurse or Doctor who came within 10 feet to let me go home!
