homebirth after v quick v big 2nd baby: will I get resistance?

I'm pregnant for the 3rd time. Ist baby born vaginally at 37 weeks in hospital weighing 7lb3 and took 18 hours to arrive. 2nd baby born at 42 weeks weighing 11lb3 after 90 mins at home (not planned to be at home). I had kind of wanted a homebirth anyway, both times, but husband wasn't keen. Having had a good experience last time (and that was on my own), it seems to make sense to me to plan on a homebirth this time (particularly in case it happens quickly again). But can anyone tell me whether I'm likely to get resistance because of the size of the second baby?

Just seen this and in a similar situation. DS1 was born in hospital DS2 arrived so quickly I had an unplanned home birth. Hoping to have a planned homebirth this time but have to see the consultant next week to get permission!!!!

Everyone seems to have an opinion as to why the consultant will say no. How have you got on?

Umm Why do you have to go to the consultant for 'permission'???
It's not their job to tell you what you can and can't do speaking as a HBac veteran. It's not the consultant who will be coming to your home for the birth, it's the midwives and if they aren't supportive you can write to the supervisor/community matron and ask that she allocate someone who is supportive.
Cornflake, if you've had a previous fast labour , home is infinitely preferable to a layby or the hospital car park as a birthing place - I'd spout that at anyone who tries to tell you you need anyone to permit you to do what you feel is right.

Thanks Lisa - that was what I thought. Really want a HB so figured I would mention it at every opportunity! GP said fine talk to midwives which was what I expected her to say. At the booking in appt the midwife said I would have to see the consultant for permission for a "home confinement" after my abnormality scan!?!

Scan is this week and seeing consultant next week. Feel like I need to get ready to fight my corner so any advice on my rights/policy etc would be great.

The biggest hurdle I think i'll have is I had high blood pressure and lots of protein in my urine for the 2 weeks before DS2 arrived but never diagnoised with PE 'til after the birth.

Ah ha cornflake - there's your evidence that you're not a lentil knitting nutter sorted out - remember to throw in that if you experience the same thing this time you would consider a hospital birth (assuming it was a true PE not pregnancy related hypertension - you'd need to see your notes really)For a professional opinion I'd join ukmidwifery
The tack you need to take is that you have considered your options and have decided to birth at home given your previous precipitate labour, however if a real indication for you to be in hospital pops up then you will decide as and when necessary (thinking PE confirmed by PET bloods particularly)
You may be lucky and get someone who says fair enough, i see your point in which case, thank them and make sure they write it in your handhelds
If you have a reaction which is uncalled for (being as you are being very reasonable and have taken time to see the person, even though you're aware you don't actually have to then use Mary Cronk's famous sayings(in files in Ukmidwifery)
If you are feeling unsupported by your community midwives then write to the community supervisor asking that they allocate someone to you who is prepared to support your choice (again be very reasonable)
look on some of the other homebirth, breech and vbac threads and there's lots of links to homebirth resources - plus size pregnancy is one I can think of that has info on PE,hypertension etc
Good luck!
