So, wise women of MN, should I go into labour ward?

I am 35+7, BH@s are getting very strong and I am now getting pain around the bottom of my bump and in my lower back, and I feel sick.
HOWEVER, I am in the office this morning and am sitting in a stupid chair that I can't adjust, and the back pain is a constant dull ache rather than coming and going.

DH is picking me up in 20 minutes anyway and his parents will be here this afternoon so I can either go home and wait to see if it goes away or go into labour ward for monitoring just to see if it is nothing or not.....have spoken to MW who said to take paracetemol and possibly go in if it carries on and I still feel 'weird',
what do you reckon??
Am I totally overreacting? (I never went intop labour with DD so have no clue what it feels like)

DH has already gone for a kip as he has major headache so am going to get DD to bed and then have a bath and kip myself later.
Labour ward only say to take paracetemol as well, they are useless, and as they want me to go in asap for CFM I would rather keep them int eh dark as much as possible!

Have done some pottering in kitchen and still no better, am getting crampy type pains across bump....at least my neighour is in, I can't even get my leg over the bike so would have to be winched onto it!
(Plus imagine if my waters broke while I was riding pillion! ew!)

I've had this too several times. Am due today with no sign of a baby arriving. I've had contractions 5 mins apart and then nothing!! Hope that doesn't depress you too much. Cause it has me!

soremummy · 12/09/2007 17:59

Just been watching your chat. Personally I would camp out at hospital just in case. I felt funny for 2 days before dd was born had only 2 contractions and waters went then had another contraction next thing I knew her head was half out shouted at hubbie baby is coming NOW what was his reply? "Just calm down" that was till he looked at me crouched on the bedroom floor he jumped over the bed and caught her!!! By the way this was baby no 4 after a 13 yr gap......... If it was me I would be booked in hospital a month before I was due just in case.

Oh, I see... maybe you should go walk a couple of mile and work that head down...

Incidentally, do you want this now? Are you thinking oh god, it only 36 weeks it's too soon. Or are you thinking yippee, get it out!!!

Chirpygirl · 12/09/2007 19:44

Honestly? I'm thinking yippee!!
My family and DH's have a history of slightly prem births, DD was the first in 2 generations to come out late, and my dates were so wrong with DD that my placenta was grey and looked dead when it came out, even though they reckon I was only 41 weeks.

I obviously don't want anything to be wrong but I am 2 days off being 37 weeks....

me too floss, i'm due on friday. Its very frustrating.

eleusis · 13/09/2007 07:51

So, how are you now?

A friend of mine seems to drop hers at about 35 weeks. No problems. I was always so jealous. Her DS and my DD were due in the same week, and she had him almost two months before I had DD (who was borm 2 weeks late).

Chirpygirl · 13/09/2007 11:25

I'm fine now.
Please can you all note that the next time I post on this thread the correct answer is

'No, you are probably not in labour, have a meal as you probably haven't eaten properly (again) and some water and go to bed. Stop convincing yourself this baby will come early.'

and finish off with a

much appreciated!

That baby is a tease!

Chirpygirl · 13/09/2007 11:36

I know! tell me about it!
At one point last night it felt like she had engaged as well, so off I pop to have a bath and go to bed, woke up in the middle of the night and she was up against my ribcage again....grrr!
