Semi Elective C section?

Has anyone opted to have a c section but only once you've gone into labour rather than elective?

I am considering doing this because with my first pregnancy I was in labour for 3 days, had many inductions and then got sepsis which made my scar excruciating. Baby also got sepsis.

The reason why I'm thinking about c section once I go into labour rather than a booked one is because I like the idea of waiting until baby is ready. I felt like baby wasnt ready to be born as my water broke first and then didn't respond to all the inductions.

Thanks!

With my first, yes, with my second, sort of. First one was a homebirth/hospital transfer after the waters went and were full of (old) meconium. I was given the choice of labour ward to continue trying for a vb with all the bells and whistle and a clip on the babies head, or a c section after her heartbeat started to vary too much. I went for c section as I'd lost my cool by that point and didn't think I'd cope with it all.
Second one was another home/hospital transfer, it was all going beautifully and I was ready to push after a few hours but I agreed to change positions for the midwife and he moved and got really really stuck so I agreed to go straight to the ooerting theatre at the hospital. He was well and truly wedged, the midwife had to hold me down while the surgeon pulled him out.
Both babies were well past their due dates and I declined induction because I knew I wanted them to be ready.

Not intentionally but that's what happened with dc2. I had a bit of a fight on my hands to convince them that I really couldn't cope with a repeat of dc1's arrival and that I wanted a c-section (had an elective booked, just baby decided they were coming sooner). I was just lucky that it wasn't particularly busy and that there was only one emergency ahead of me once I'd actually got the consultant's attention.

As long as you are okay with the possiblility that you might end up with a vbac or an emergency section under GA, then I don't see why not.
