Am excited to be 'waiting for the call' from a colleague who has asked me to look after her in labour (39wks).

I love my wine though - any coping tips?

LOL !! oh yes ! and be prepared to leap 10 foot in the air every time your mobile rings either late at night, or early in the morning, or in fact any time at all!!

asda do a range of shloer like soft drinks that taste quite like wine ( if you close your eyes! )

marthamoo · 05/09/2007 19:12

Ach, can't she come to you?

Nah, seriously, it's going to have to be Schloer (and hoping she's early...)

lulumama · 05/09/2007 19:13

mears - she is very, very lucky to have you as her birth companion... are you delivering or supporting her?

lulumama · 05/09/2007 19:13

or both !?

Klaw · 05/09/2007 19:19

err, dunno! I'm not a great one for drinking anyway and when I've been on call the LAST thing on my mind was alcohol!

Chocolate?

More Chocolate?

Chocolate?

It is very exciting, isn't it?

mears · 05/09/2007 22:27

Have had chocolate icecream and cream!

I am supporting her and delivering - though she is the one delivering

Klaw - have sent a message. Did you get it?

I know... it's hard not to have a quick drink, then another and then go to bed hoping tonight's not the night!

Coping tips............ vodka????????????

SlightlyMadSCAREYthing · 05/09/2007 22:31

Mears - home birth or hosp?

If it is a hosp birth you could tell her DH/P to pick you up on route to hosp - which will at least mean you don't have to drive, and you can sober up during her 10hr labour until you have to do anything important.

If it is a home birth she could send her DH/P out to get you (or as previously suggested offer your home as the venue so she comes to you)....

mears · 05/09/2007 22:32

Hospital birth

Yes tech has switched off the autofill on passwords so because there was a glitch which meant Mars was able to post as JV, but she can't now as she doesn't know password for JVs profile.

There you go...pick up on route...problem solved...

BTW I think there is a quote worthy of Quote of the week nomination somewhere on this thread nudge nuddge wink wink

Klaw · 05/09/2007 23:43

Mears, I don't think I've received anything since you emailed back your thoughts on the Birth Story I sent you....

Was there something else since?

mears · 06/09/2007 10:52

No, just wondered what you thought about my thoughts. Did it help?

Thanks Mears, I've had a lot of imput and am soaking it all up, will probably go back and re -read a lot.

Baby is out of neo-natal and a date for MRI being organised, think they might be discharged very soon, if not already.

Just wish I could be providing unbiased support atm instead of them just having the guilt trip rubbish from her mum and certain HCPs.... They'll come to me if and when they're ready. But I've learnt a lot in the process so that's been a great silver lining, even if no-one else appreciates that.

Baby is guaranteed to turn up on the last day of the 3 weeks as my god-daughter did when I was birth partner to her mum.
