Hi there,
I am 38 weeks today and planning a VBAC after my el CS for breech.

I haven't spent much time on the ante natal threads because I couldn't keep up with them! But now I am on mat leave and due date is approaching I would love to chat to anyone else hoping for a VBAC in the near future.

Is there anyone else out there, or another thread I can join? (Am just heading to docs to check baby position but will log in again later!)

Thanks
p xx

I'm 38 weeks today, so exactly one week apart - I'll race ya.

VictorianPASqualor · 19/03/2008 17:10

You're on!
Though I really don't expect this one to come on time.
It still seems so surreal that in a maximum of 4weeks and 6days I shall have my baby and that's only if I go over and push for 42weeks. It could come any day now!!

VictorianPASqualor · 25/03/2008 16:34

I've booked my CS today
My doppler wasn't as good as hoped and protein in my urine is going up so I agreed to go as far as 40weeks and then give up. The risk of stillbirth is creeping up too much for my liking and even the actual labour risks are increased now.
I have my actual due date(9th april) as my CS date but am keeping fingers crossed it comes sooner.

Lulumama · 25/03/2008 16:36

oh no!

is there any chance that the doppler could improve and protein reduce? or is that wishful thinking?

even if you do have c.s, it will have been on your terms this time

VictorianPASqualor · 25/03/2008 16:44

If it stays the same then it's no real problem for labour, but the longer I leave it the harder my placenta is going to have to work, and with the abnormal blood flow it could abrupt or give up altogether quite easily so even if the dopplers are better next week it's still not a great sign.

I'm desperate not to have this CS but as I've said all along if the risks get too high I'm going to have to bite the bullet.

So, sex, nipple stim, RLT, pineapple, curries, walking anything else? (I have been doing all these since my first bout of contractions and none seem to be working!)

Head is finally starting to engage though and mw said that could be a favourable sign as it's a third pg.

Lulumama · 25/03/2008 17:02

birth ball, acupuncture, reflexology, visualisation...

but at the end of the day, they won;t induce labour, but encourage readiness...

i hope it all goes to plan for the VBAC.. i have everything crossed

Klaw · 25/03/2008 20:19

Thinking of you, VS!

BetsyBoop · 25/03/2008 21:33

Sending you loads of labour vibes VS

I hope you get your VBAC, but if you don't I hope you find the c/s a much more positive experience when it's on your own terms, as I did this time round.

Lulumama · 25/03/2008 21:40

hey betsey ! good to 'see; you ! x

BetsyBoop · 25/03/2008 21:50

Hi Lulu

Lulumama · 25/03/2008 22:03

BetsyBoop · 25/03/2008 22:05

yum yum

VictorianPASqualor · 26/03/2008 08:02

Thanks everyone, I'm fervently going over my CS preferences, if I have a CS it's going to be My Way.

Am also trying to fill my diary and am going to wear my best clothes between now and the 9th. Come on Sod's Law you work for everything else!

pendulum · 27/03/2008 14:24

good luck VS- hope you get what you want from your delivery.

Am still checking in on this thread occasionally... can't believe it's 7 months and my DD's entire lifetime since I started it!

I'm cancelling the CS.
I haven't gone through all this for nothing!

Lulumama · 07/04/2008 15:16

ok.

how do you feel?

VictorianSqualor · 07/04/2008 15:26

Strangely positive actually.
I went and had a bath, and listened to some music really loudly whilst trying to decide what to do and feel like I got back my mojo.
I can do this!
I'm going to chat to the mw first, she is due anytime now, and see if she thinks baby is ok, as long as it is, I'm calling the hospital and rebooking it for next week.

Lulumama · 07/04/2008 15:44

sounds like a plan. i will wait with baited breath and a selection of ice creams to see what happens next !!

whomovedmychocolate · 07/04/2008 21:12

VS I have my (slightly fat) fingers crossed for you! Make sure if you do have to have a CS you insist on our favourite surgeon and get your tummy muscles done at the same time. I showed the mw my cs scar today and she was stunned how low it is - it is actually on my pubic bone.

Oh and white trousers - if you have any wear them now, you can almost guarantee to get a show or your waters breaking if you do this

VictorianSqualor · 07/04/2008 21:17

DP just called MiL to tell her and I had to listen to a one-sided conversation in which I knew she was saying to just have a cs cos it's easier and done then and no risk etc
Can't we tell she had two problem free vaginal births....

whomovedmychocolate · 07/04/2008 21:24

Yeah CS has no known complications

MiLs should be issued with gags whenever a pregnant women is within 100 miles IMHO

VictorianSqualor · 07/04/2008 21:30

He even said to her 'plus it's going to be much harder to recover with 3dc's after a CS' and I know she said something like 'A vaginal birth still needs recovery'
Yeah, not six fucking weeks or 3-5 days in hospital!
Arghh

whomovedmychocolate · 07/04/2008 21:32

SEND ALL THE KIDS TO HER IMMEDIATELY! She really needs a reality check here. At least you have a sane partner.

whomovedmychocolate · 07/04/2008 21:34

I have a piece of paper now with 'risk of death to baby or mum at repeat CS is five times that of VBAC' written on it which I hold up for DH to read out to MiL at every opportunity.

BetsyBoop · 08/04/2008 11:36

fingers crossed you LO comes SOON VS & you get you longed for VBAC

sending you loads of labour vibes

Have you had an exam yet to see if anything is happening?
