That when you've just given birth some stupid bounty woman comes round trying to take photos of ur child and selling them to you? A relative told me she'd heard about it today and it's making me angry thinking that this is even allowed to happen? I'm 23 weeks and I will lose it if someone pushy tries to do this at the most vulnerable time in your life? It's disgusting!!!!! 😡😡

They come around and give you a pack with your child benefit forms in. They asked my name and if unwanted photos. I said no, she loves on. No Biggie and nothing to get worked up o over

BeautifulBirds · 12/02/2020 16:42

They did with me, but not a hard sell. She also gave me the newborn bounty pack. We had a nice chat and she went on her way.

My sister in law had them done and they are beautiful.

I just couldn't justify the cost.

ballsdeep · 12/02/2020 16:43

And seriously, calm your tits. You're half way through pregnancy with a long way to go. Don't get so worked up with trivial things.

Appledeapp · 12/02/2020 16:44

It happened to me 11 years ago. I wonder how long they have been doing it

TheVanguardSix · 12/02/2020 16:49

Not at all with DC3 (5 and a half years ago). Didn't see one at all where he was born (Queen Charlotte's in London). But with DCs1 and 2, the Bounty Brigade was pretty full on. I was more grateful with DC2. Too tired and snappy with DC1 (but still, I'm glad I got the photos- this was 18 years ago, pre-android/iphone and it was a 'digital' photo, so quite exciting).

GlamGiraffe · 12/02/2020 16:52

Doesnt happen at the hospitals in this area.probably depends on the area and the hospitals.

Narcheska · 12/02/2020 16:52

Not this time (DD born recently)

Soubriquet · 12/02/2020 16:54

They ask and are willing to come by later

I love the photos she has taken if my two and even the family portrait she took

Mintjulia · 12/02/2020 16:55

Yes. I told her I was feeling very hormonal and she needed to leave before I was extremely rude. She left Grin

iklboo · 12/02/2020 16:55

They don't take photos of your baby without your permission like some maternity ward paparazzo or while you're in mid push. You just say you're not interested.

BlueJava · 12/02/2020 16:56

I had mine 18 years ago and a lady came round and offered to take pics. I said yes - really lovely pics - still have them :) You can obviously say no though. I think it's a pretty small thing to get het up over tbh.

Blackopal · 12/02/2020 16:57

Happened both times with mine.

I told them no, but one couple on my ward did not speak any English whatsoever.
They had photos and the lady then started talking to them about their package and what was owed, they were nodding and smiling politely.
I was so shocked I pointed it out to nurse, she just looked embarrassed.

LucyAutumn · 12/02/2020 16:59

Happened to me with my DS who I had in a London hospital. Luckily I'd already heard about bounty reps and I heard her introduce herself to the lady next door so when she came in I just said a very firm "no thank you" and she left. I might add she did whip my curtain back and came straight in unlike all the nurses/ midwives and doctors so not impressed with that but glad she fucked off straight away.

BohemianDream · 12/02/2020 16:59

It happened after my first child but not my second though it was the same hospital . I really couldn't afford to pay for the photos and still feel really guilty about it, I was young and didn't have the heart say no to her.

Clangus00 · 12/02/2020 17:00

Getting a bit irate over something that might not happen there OP.

ScottishDiblet · 12/02/2020 17:01

The lady came to see me - I said no thank you and then she said “so you won’t be applying for child benefit then?” Hmm I wasn’t strong enough to say that I knew that I could download the form myself so just said no and she left in a huff.

namechangin · 12/02/2020 17:13

I wasn't planning on saying yes because of Mumsnet, but when she knocked on the door I was so tired I said we'd see how they turn out whether I wanted to buy any. I ended up loving most of them, so we bought one of the cheaper options (one a4 picture, some wallet photos, I think one or two a bit bigger than wallet size, and a usb with them all on). I hated the ones with me in at the time, I was still very swollen from preeclampsia so my hands look giant and my face is massive too but the faces the baby is pulling is brilliant and I'd never be able to afford professional photos again until school so I'm glad I did it this time. I think the lady would have been pushy if I'd said no, but was nice enough because I seemed interested

Nonnymum · 12/02/2020 17:17

It happened when I had my children in the 80s but if you didn't want it you just said no. Now everyone has a camera with them all the time I think it's less common. It didn't happen with my grandchildren

BigFatLiar · 12/02/2020 17:18

I like this chocolate, one of my favourite bars.

strawberry2017 · 12/02/2020 17:30

Did at mine but I just said no thanks and she went on her way

lonelyonee · 12/02/2020 17:44

If you have the bounty app you can put in your hospital and it will tell you whether they have bounty photographers that go there.
Not sure why you're so annoyed about it though? You don't have to have them done or buy anything.
Personally I'm 34 weeks and I've seen some beautiful photos done by them so I'm planning on taking them up on the offer. I'm sure you can have them done then access to buy them anytime afterwards, you don't have to buy there and then. (Feel like it would be hard to make a decision about what I want if I'm not doing too good and want to go home).
To each their own though, best of luck with your pregnancy OP!

mnahmnah · 12/02/2020 17:47

Yes there was with both of my babies. But I actually looked forward to it, getting a lovely picture of them just hours old. They weren’t intrusive or pushy. They quietly stuck their head in when I was awake through the window and asked politely if I was interested.

mnahmnah · 12/02/2020 17:48

Yes meant when they could SEE I was awake, through the window Grin

Reginabambina · 12/02/2020 17:49

I had someone done around trying to give me free samples. She then threatened me about not being able to get a child benefit form because it was in her bag of samples. It was really bizarre.

Riv12345 · 12/02/2020 17:54

It's true

My daughter had just given birth, got back to bed settled down for a good earned sleep after being awake all night given birth!

An hour later she woke to find a woman rearranging my new grandson at a certain angle so she could take photos of him!!
She didn't even ask my daughter, this lady just came in and helped herself to take photos of him!

Absolutely disgusting!!!
My daughter reported her to the ward matron etc this was 7 years ago but nothing was done.
I still can't believe it till this day.
