Hi all

So I'm exactly 39 weeks today. Booked in for a sweep this morning at 9am.
Cervix very high and closed and so sweep couldn't be done. But blood pressure was dangerously high. I was admitted into hospital overnight at 36 weeks with high blood pressure.

Booked in for an induction at 39+6 but the doctor today said that there was no need to wait another 6 days and due to the reading that they got this morning, they wanted to bring my induction forward!

So fast forward a few hours... I had the pessary inserted at 3pm! (which was SO uncomfortable and makes me scared sh*tless for labour). Currently bouncing on a birthing ball and waiting for something to happen.

Would love to hear success stories - especially from those who have had a very unfavourable cervix to begin with! I'm also a first time Mum. Really hoping something happens overnight tonight 🤞🏽

I was 1cm with a difficult posterior cervix when they put the first pessary in. 6 hours later and no developments I had another pessary inserted. Used this time to bounce loads on the ball and walk laps of the hospital grounds. Felt very slight cramps at this stage not painful.
After 6 hours they were able to break my waters, I was 3cm at this point.
All hell broke loose and baby was born 2.5 hours later. As soon as I stood up after my waters broke the pains were incredible she must have just needed that to happen to come down. No time for anything except gas and air.
All in all a quick positive induction. I needed an episiotomy and she was 5lb 3oz but I've healed well.

The pessary did nothing for me apart from make me feel uncomfortable. After being in hospital for 18 hours with nothing to show I begged the midwife to take it out and send me home Blush
She of course didn't, but they did send me to labour ward for the drip and to have my waters broken etc.
I had her naturally with gas and air the next morning. From pessary to birth was 37 hours Grin

Thank you both for sharing your stories! No signs of any action just yet aside from a little mild cramping and a few twinges in my back.

I have been told that I won't be examined again for 24 hours since the first pessary was inserted - so 3pm tomorrow. Unless there is reason to examine me before then, I.e contractions begin.

I thought the last few weeks of waiting was hard but this is a different kind of anticipation! 😁

Anybody else have any other success stories to share and give me some hope? 🤞🏽

I had a pessery at 9am and was holding my baby by 6.30pm. I didn’t feel my first contraction till about 4pm so was all quite aggressive

Wishing you luck, there is no better feeling than when you meet your baby for the first time!

Thank you so much @Bringonspring! Waters broke at 4.20am today - no pains as of yet though!

With dc1 I had the pessary and 4hrs40mins later baby was born. I woke up that morning with a slight funny tummy but I just thought it was from nerves as it was my induction date anyway but when checked I was already 2cm dilated so obviously has started by myself.
