Did you/will you buy Thankyou Gifts for dr's and mw etc following delivery of your baby?

If so, can you please share some tips with me as to what you did/would buy them.

Tips appreciated as not sure what to do, thanks

I had my DS in a district general hospital then moved to community hospital after 1 night. Stayed in community hospital for 3 nights and bought the MW's box of chocolates! After looking in their office, noted that they had another 4 boxes already so perhaps chocolates is not the answer! Flowers might be nice though to brighten up their stations!

We thought about it but couldn't decide what they would life and it was difficult having had a CS. In the end we send nice and very heartfelt cards thanking them for the great job they did. I suppose chocs, booze etc would be the norm, but you never know then who will not be able to have them. If you're not strapped for cash, most stressed-out NHS staff would probably appreciate a spa or salon treatment voucher.

I think biscuits are always appreciated - tho I had ds in a midwife unit which is constantly threatened with closure, so I also made a donation to that - seemed worthwhile & really appropriate

Last time I got my community m/w a box of chocs & a card just as a small token thank you - she was really chuffed. She had been fab throughout my pregnancy & at home after. Even DH liked her (and if you knew my DH it takes a lot )

Didn't get anything for the people in the hospital, but TBH didn't meet anyone long enough to really make a "relationship" with them apart from the m/w I had on delivery & she was awful

This time I'm not sure as I'm 32 wks & my community m/w has just changed (from the same one I had last time to someone new) - haven't met her yet - whether I get her anything will depend on how we get on over the next few weeks

We asked and were told that chocolates/biscuts always go down well. I think that the thank you card was more appreciated by the MW that looked after me after DD's birth though. She was having a very rough day when we went in and I think it helps to know that there are happy endings.

I took in cards for the MW, the ward and the SCBU, and we made a donation to the special care charity - told the staff they'd have to do without chocs this time! They dind't seem to mind

Chocs always go down well because they can keep them on the desk and grab one when they go back and forth.

I'm planning a homebirth this time and have had all my appts at home so I'm going to get something a bit more special for my MW. She is one in a million.

Case of wine for the midwives at Ealing hosptial first time round (homebirth but I'd seen most of the Jade team) and expensive bottle of wine and a photo and card for each of the 2 midwives who delivered dd, at home too.

I lovely basket of fruits or a healthier option is always appreciated as well, chocs and biscuits of course always welcome also found out through some friends who had a baby recently that some people/hospitals dont allow staff to accept gifts not sure of reasons. it is always great to get positve feedback

Nice hand lotion as all that washing / alcohol gelling strips the oils out really fast.
