Can you use a baby carrier/sling after a c section?

I used the sling constantly with my first and it was a life saver. I'm due a section with my second shortly (absolutely terrified) and just wondered if/when anyone managed to use those sling after?

Yes no problem at all but I'd recommend going to a sling library and get fitted with an ergonomic one that is better for your baby and you. Some of the high street carriers aren't great even if they have a hefty price tag like baby bjorn. There are some very helpful Facebook groups too

That's great I'm so happy! I loved mine. I used the K'tan..will have a look and make sure it's ok for back etc.

Yes no worries. I used a cloth one when DS was little and a structured bijorn one when he had decent head control. It's actually quite comfy as no picking up pram or bending over

I used a baby wrap about four weeks after my c section and it was fine. I just didn't feel strong enough before that!
Good luck with everything, I know it's daunting but you will be fine!

I could only wear mine for about 45 mins before my stitches and back would hurt.

I used a wrap sling from about ten days after my cesarean sections.

DH was home for two weeks, and it took about five days to be able to walk completely upright and a week to be able to get up from a chair or bed fairly normally, so ten days was when I first felt happy using the wrap, first in the house but quickly over the next two or three days out and about within the very local area (potter to the very nearby tiny Playpark so dc1 could play there) too.

Don't put the baby on the floor to change a nappy in the first week unless you have another competent adult with you as you might not be able to pick them up or get yourself back up (and certainly not both at once)!

People's recoveries vary but my dc2 especially pretty much lived in the didymous woven wrap from ten days old. That enabled me to have my hands free for my toddler and was very practical.

I had a stretchy wrap I used straight away with no problems and I had a lot of bruising where they pushed a lot on my stomach to get him out. I suppose it does depend on how tall you are but in most cases you would wear the sling a lot higher than where the scar is so it shouldn't cause problems . Or if it did a ring sling would avoid the area altogether. My friend wore her tiny 5lb baby in a ring sling and he looked so cosy!
