Hello! I hope everyone is ok!

So me and my parent are TTC and we are on cycle 2. We are curious to our options on where to give birth and birthing pools. This is like my number 1 thing I would really like BUT there is what I have researched a problem.

I'm a plus size girl! Weigh around 20st but I'm healthy otherwise. Online it says I'm the UK BMI of 35 and below.

So I was wondering if anyone has been on Warwick's new MLU or other MLU and might have had issues regarding weight? I fully understand the BMI reason for health and safety and I have been trying to lose some weight and will continue too until that day finally comes. I think I'm just worried that I'll be told no straight away and have everything I wanted crushed. Also have heard of some plus size women and horrific experiences regarding there weight and that terrifies me.

Xx

I’m under Warwick at the moment and they count BMI over 30 as increased risk so I think if you had a BMI above that, definitely of above 35 at start of pregnancy, it would be more difficult to deliver there, they may say no from the start as it’s based on BMI at booking appt.
Saying that it is because it is higher risk so they do make the decision based on what’s safest for you and baby so try not to get upset about it, the most important thing is you both leave healthy 😊 as you progress through pregnancy all of these issues become less important and you just want a good outcome.

I’m under Warwick too and have a bmi of 31. As a result I was automatically send for gd testing (negative) and my community midwife and the nhs antenatal classes have all still really pushed bluebell. I’m going for the tour to decide what I want.

I’d say that regardless, Warwick maternity have been excellent and the care I’ve receive at aau and community level has been wonderful so I have every faith that whether I go to blue bell or labour ward the midwife team will help me make the right choice as and when we need to and will take the best care of us
