Did anyone's first vaginal birth baby weigh over 9.5lbs?

I think I'm going to be in this position! Did you have any birth injuries? How was your recovery? I've heard many good labour stories involving 9/10lbs babies but they tend to be second or third births so perhaps when the body is more prepared.

My 10lb baby was fine, the 9lb was fine too, the little one ended up an emergency C Section. I think there is more to it than just size, mainly how they are lying as my smallest was back to back coming out face first which just didn't work.

Yes, dd1 was my first baby and 9lb12oz at 4 days early. So glad she came when she did.

To top that she was back to back. I had a drip for failure to progress, all the pain relief short of an epidural and she was a ventouse delivery with 2nd degree tear. She came out face up - the doctor said "face-to-pubes", but the midwives called her a Stargazer! It was 37 hours from when I first felt contractions.

My other 2 were progressively earlier and lighter - ds 9lb3oz and dd2 (36+6) was only 7lb15oz - I looked at her and said "she's so tiny" and the midwife looked at me like I was crazy!

My son was born 9lb 11oz, my first baby. I was induced at 40+3 because they predicted he would be a big baby - both me and my husband were 9lb+ babies.

Induced with the pessary first and then the drip, birth was very fast and intense - drip started at 9:15am and baby born at 1:19pm.

Whilst pushing they said they would need to give me an episiotomy to help get him out, he was struggling round the bend and out - apparently once they did the cut he practically flew out! I can't remember because I was on a lot of gas and air but I didn't feel the cut because it was numbed locally beforehand, again I didn't feel this because of the contractions and gas and air.

When I was being stitched up the local anaesthetic wore off and I needed a top up - I definitely felt those stitches! It was quite a big cut, about 3 inches. Worst part was the first two weeks after giving birth, I definitely needed my husband with me for the night in hospital - I couldn't sit up to reach for my son to feed him because of the pain! It was so tender for a week and a half to two weeks. Once I was past that though it improved greatly, I was having sex again at 6 weeks post birth!

Everything is fine now, make sure you practice your pelvic floor exercises 🙌🏼
