Do stitches hurt?

If you had stitches, what did it feel like? Honesty welcome! Can you request anything stronger than the local aesthetic injection which I've heard isn't that effective. Thanks!

I had stitches with one of mine, it was pretty horrid. Afterwards was ridiculously painful, much worse than I expected - the journey home in the car was horrendous, going to the loo was awful too. I now think that my episiotomy and stitches were really badly done, and definitely shouldn't have been as painful a recovery as it was.

Another episiotomy and stitches here. Didn't feel a thing as I had an epidural. Afterwards, it felt like I was peeing glass shards the first loo trip, but it was very quickly forgotten and it never hurt again. Just that first pee. X
