Hi all so my third c section is booked for Monday!
First two were after long inductions and failed labours and were emergency and were 16/11 years ago!
One resulted in a general anaesthetic with a raging infection after and the second I was awake (spinal) but haemorrhaged when I got back to the ward! (Had obstetric Cholestasis with both)
Don't have it this tome even thou have all symptoms also having symptoms of pre e, but been monitored closely for this!
So I can't really remember the births and they were so so traumatic and I was only young!
So please any tips on whT to take!?
Tips on making recovery quicker?!
And advice on what to expect?
Thanks I will be 38 weeks exactly

Big granny pants... I actually still wear mine... love them for not going into the fold!

Pads for cushioning

Baggy trousers or leggings

Also the only thing that make recovery easier and quicker is to remember to look after yourself.

Take it easy and keep the wound clean and dry. Use pads on the wound after washing to soak up any moisture then remove once dry. I used to lie on the bed naked for a while to make sure I wasn't trapping water in the fold.

I got great big black granny pants. So comfy. I used a towel folded under my seatbelt for the journey home. My hospital had a quick recovery program which meant I was up on my feet quite quickly so make sure you have all the drugs they offer you.
And congratulations! This was my first baby and the experience was very positive so I'm hoping things go well for you this time.

Ooo also forgot about this! I have a next to me crib and I'm worrying that I won't be able to sit up from kid down in bed! I do have an electric bed so wondering if to have it sat up a little ! Also someone said on another post c section pants! I've bought some support pants are these just same? It's funny because with my second I can't home alone as I had split with husband at time! I had a 4 year old at home who I had to get ready for school and even though I had haemorrhaged I was discharged the day after this!! And I managed with newborn and child of 4 I just don't know how I did it! Supise you put to back of your mind! I have a living partner now and two helpful teenagers!! But so worried

Take arnica tablets from today and use for a week after - it stops the swelling. You will then recover faster - I’ve has 3 c-sections. Now they get you up within about 6 hours to walk and this also speeds recovery.

Try to rest as much as you can after and enjoy the alone time in the recovery room - it’s the only alone time you will have!!!

I found walking as much as I could helped me. I walked around the hospital as soon as I was allowed up.

babynunber3 · 04/12/2019 10:26

@Annasgirl does the arnica do anything to your bloods? As when back on the ward with my son they put him up to feed and Thts when I bled crash buzzer was pressed and I was rushed back to theatre luckily nothing had to be done ! Apart from uterus massages and removal of clots but I am so terrified of this happening again! I have this fear that when I stand up or go toilet alone I will bleed out! I know this time their ready and will
Medicated me but so worried about it

Big pads as in sanitary towels, me being thick didn't realise I would still bleed downstairs from a c section!! A v shaped cushion like the feeding ones to prop you up for sleeping. I wasn't allowed to leave the hospital until I had pooed and the only thing that made me go was a costa coffee! I also wasn't aware I would have to take the dressing off myself over my scar ( shudder) I got in the bath with the help of my mum and sister and peeled it off the bath defo helped it come away. Another tip is once this was off I used to stick a sanitary towel to the inside of my pants so it rested over the scar which helped with the bleeding and pain when moving. It's major surgery be prepared but it will all be worth it! Good luck xx

No arnica is safe it is a bit like homeopathy but a little more grounded. You won’t bleed out - you dissolve a few tiny tablets on your tongue 6 times a day
