ELCS tomorrow

First baby is being delivered by ELCS tomorrow. He's forecast to be a very big boy. I'm fairly calm but if I said I wasn't a little worried I'd be lying. Mums popping by to visit with a pizza from ASDA for my last meal as DH had to go to work to get tomorrow off. Shame as it's our anniversary and he would have cooked something lovely.
Lovely Mumsnet people please reassure me with some lovely tales of nice straightforward ELCS's. Thank you very much.

Two friends who had ELCS recently recovered so quickly. No personal experience I’m afraid.

Good luck! Flowers

Mine was really relaxing. It was a really nice experience.

Hubby was able to cut the cord.

I'll be having another in may

I chose a c section. It wasn't painful at all and the recovery was easy. I found it much easier than my friends who had natural births.

ELCS with my second, it was brilliant. Calm, friendly chatty staff. Skin to skin immediately. Up and walking on the same day, no painkillers after a week. It was great Smile

Thank you so much! I'm really hoping it all goes well, they aim to have us discharged the next day so I'm hoping I manage that.

I had one it was all very calm, straight forward and I quick. Had a lovely chat about holiday locations to the nurses. You will n absolutely fine please don't worry. The toast is nice after too 😊 x

Mine was brilliant. Turned up at the hospital at 8am, all set up with my super glam compression socks, went down to theatre at about 11ish (would of been sooner but there had been a couple of emergencies, so be prepared for delays) had baby by midday, spent a lovely few hours doing skin to skin etc, visits from grandparents, up and walking the next morning, showered, dressed, home the next day. Felt absolutely fine after a fortnight. No issue with scar, no infections, very straightforward recovery.

My advice would be to accept all the help you can get, don't be afraid to use that buzzer when you're in hospital, rest when back home but make sure to get up and move regularly (amble to the fridge and back, pop to the loo etc) and if you haven't already send someone for big pants, you'll need them.

Good luck! Thanks

ameliathomas84 · 20/11/2019 16:38

Gorgeous! How do you feel and how sis everything go? I have my doc appointment tomorow to schedule mine and I'm so nervous x

smartcarnotsosmartdriver · 20/11/2019 17:40

@ameliathomas84 I feel absolutely fine. Apart from the hospital being ridiculously warm. Whole thing was very relaxed and friendly. Baby came straight to me for skin to skin and he's been with us all day. I've now been moved from recovery to postnatal. I imagine that the painkillers from the op haven't worn off yet because I'm in very little pain.

smartcarnotsosmartdriver · 20/11/2019 20:46

@benandhollyagaaain bigger, 10lbs 10oz.

He's a beaut! Congratulations, wishing you all the best for recovery and motherhood.

benandhollyagaaain · 21/11/2019 02:37

Wow! Congratulations 😊

TrashKitten10 · 21/11/2019 02:56

Congratulations! Regarding the pain, the midwives will keep you topped up with painkillers but if it's reassuring to hear I'm 3 weeks post cesarean and was never in pain from it. Uncomfortable yes, but even immediately afterwards I didn't experience pain. And I'm a total wuss Grin

RainbowMum11 · 21/11/2019 03:07

Ask for the anti-constipation medicine (moviolas?) as early as you can - the first post-section poo can be awful if not!!!
Congratulations though, he's beautiful.

smartcarnotsosmartdriver · 23/11/2019 16:00

Thanks everyone, we got home last night. I feel fine, the wee one has a touch of jaundice and we haven't completely got the hang of feeding but we're getting there.

My elcs was lovely! Everyone in the theatre was calm and friendly, we were all having a laugh and chatting! Baby arrived quickly with no complications and was out straight on the boob and fed with no issues! I am due my third via section in 6 weeks and hoping it all goes as well as the last one 😁! Good luck, I'm sure it will all be fine and as soon as your baby arrives you'll forget all these worries you hd!

Cannyhandleit · 23/11/2019 16:07

Sorry just noticed this wasn't a new thread and baby is already here! Congratulations
