Should pack a bag just in case aye.

So what bare essentials shall I put in?

Also good thing about packing bag everything I might need for the home birth can be all in one place.

So far I have -

breast pads
arnica tablets
rescue remedy
outfit for baby
couple of nappies

He heee!
I AM still very much having a home birth babe, this is very much 'just in case'.

I'm kind of looking for things to do!
Just washed all the blankets and first toys!

Off to let the girls paint some pottery now (oh my God I MUST be mad!)

Will pick up your email when I'm at work tomorrow.

I did a bag, hoping not to use it and didn't - though it meant dh could locate something for ds2 to wear after

  • vest & baby gro x 2
  • few nappies & pack of wipes
  • clothes for me
  • small toiletries pack (toothbrush, contact lenses, soap)
  • breast pads, sanitary towels and spare pants (just used old ones as I hated the sound of disposable ones)

outfit for baby
outfit for you
baby gros
vests
towel for both you and baby
breast pads
disposable knickers
toothbrush and toiletries
camera
change for parking/phone
nappies/wipes/bags
blanket or warm suit for baby to come home in.

I didn't pack a bag but after 33 hours at home (5 in birthing pool) I had to go in to have cesarian section under GA in the end. Be prepared and try not to build your hopes to much on a home birth. I got quite PND because I had set my heart on it and felt a failure after my c section.

Make up bag ready just in case.
Shower gel?

I didn't pack a bag really. Ended up going in because no midwives available

Got there, had ds 40mins later. Had stitches, shower and back home by 11pm (having arrived just past 8pm). They didn't want me to go because no paed available. But I was arsey about there not being a paed on hand for home birth so what was the difference (?). And they let me go.

So hope that you get the birth you want. But you have lovely doula (don't you) to ensure that you don't weaken. I am still cross with myself - just really wanted gas and air, but by the time got to hosp was already 10cm and pushing. And when we got there they said "we've just been trying to ring you because one of the midwives from the next area agreed to go out to you". Grrrrrr.

Next time ...... I won't go in!

I've basically packed most things on all the various lists you get with things! I too have thought it will be helpful to have all the things I'm likely to need in one place even if I don't go in!! Although having a torch in my hospital bag could be thought a little unusual!!
