Precipate labour - yikes!

Hi. Had baby number 5 Thursday. I must say it was the most terrifying and painful experience. Had a precipitous labour. Water broke at around 5am and she was born 7:43am.
Laboured at home for a while. Called my midwife who said to come into the clinic immediately. When we left home contractions were intense but as we drove to clinic it was like one massive non stop contraction and I could feel the baby drop; I was petrified that we might not make it in time. As we drove contractions came one on top of another. Was screaming at DH to drive faster!
Mom called midwife and she met us at the door. It was bad, I was screaming non stop and crawled out of the car clinging onto my midwife’s shirt for dear life. She helped me into the clinic and wanted to examine me in one of the exam rooms. I told her I can’t and she said okay she lowered me to the floor and another midwife sat behind me supporting me.
Midwife took my pants and knickers off and she could see head crown. I thought I was going to die! I was screaming help me, help me. Posted my concern about young midwife (in her mid twenties) earlier but OMG she was amazing. She was firm but gentle and so reassuringly confident. Told me to focus on her and no one else. I screamed I needed to push and she gave me the okay and in 5 pushes she was out.
It happened so fast and was so traumatic for everyone. I felt like I had no control of my body and extremely overwhelmed by the pain and intensity. DH was white as chalk and my mom was DM was in tears. 4 babies naturally but wow this one scared the wits out of me.
Has anyone had an experience like this kind of labour? Any thoughts on how to deal with such a traumatic birth?

This tends to be a very normal experience for fast labours because the body isn’t preparing you for the pain of the second stage with a longer first stage. If it has traumatised you, then it is possible to be referred to MH specialists. Just ask the HV or midwife during your check ups

My first labour was exactly like this, it was terrifying and very unexpected for a first baby. It did take me a while to 'get over it' and for weeks I felt quite traumatised. I know exactly how you feel. Make sure you talk to someone about it, because I didn't and I feel like I would have dealt with it better if I had.

Funnily enough my second labour was longer and much calmer, which was a relief.
