Waters breaking

Just wondered if anyone would like to share their story of when/where their waters broke naturally, not by anyone in the hospital!

I keep going between worrying it'll happen whilst I'm out and about (alone!) to not worrying as it's "one of those things".

I'm sure there's some funny stories out there if anyone would like to share

I think I bent down to get something before getting into bed and felt trickling.... put a pad on that got quite wet , gross but smelt it and I was sure my waters had broken.
Rang hospital they said to pop in and they'd check, I changed my pad before leaving so when I got there trickling had sorta stopped and nothing to show for it so the midwife was asking me if it could have been wee and seemed to think I was imagining it
I insisted it was not wee and she said ok hop up on the bed and she'd take a look, just as I opened my legs more gushed out and splashed her.
She believed me then

First time round 10 days before due date I woke at 5am thinking I was wetting myself! Made it to the bathroom and had a few gushes. Put a pad on and went into hospital sat on a towel. Labour didn't progress so went through to be put on drip. Examined on labour ward and found DC was breech so ended up with c section.

Second time round, 2 weeks early. Woke at 3am to same gushing feeling. Went into hospital on towel again and had second c section after failing to progress yet again.

I'd been in labour about 16 hours before mine went during the pushing stage. The amount of liquid was incredible, I have no idea how it all fit

With my first, I woke up one morning at 2am in a pool of water (I'd put a waterproof sheet on a couple of weeks earlier). I couldn't get over how much there was. It felt like gallons, and the journey to the hospital was very squelchy.

With the 2nd, I didn't really notice. It was fairly late on and I was in the water pool.

I was changing dc1’s bedding from the baby sheets to a toddler duvet when mine went at 39 weeks. Thought I’d pissed myself at first, my contractions didn’t start until six hours later.

It was a Hollywood gush- thankfully I’d bought Tena Lady pants for the postnatal bleeding and they were fantastic at absorbing the fluid.

I'm at 38+6 and think I've just resided to the fact I don't care how or where. I just want the when to be ASAP!! 🤣

walking across the carpark to my final antenatal class! They came, and kept coming! DH had to rush in, tell the course tutor we wouldn’t be coming and then find a plastic bag for me to sit on.

Called the hospital who said to come in and the walk from the car to the maternity ward was ... soggy! Nothing would hold it in and I leaked from car to triage room. The midwife coming asked me was I sure it was my waters... I said she could check the puddle in the lift!

For DC2 they went as I lent over my birthing ball in my sitting room. All over my new rug . Was some relief after 3 days of contractions but alas DC2 ended up as an EMCS too...

Woke up just after midnight and went for a wee - went to get back into bed and I swear I heard them "pop" and then felt them go.

Walking out of hospital after monitoring for reduced movements. Wasn't sure if it was despite it being obvious. So I went home and got a McDonald's before calling the unit to ask if they needed to check (home birth). They did want to check, didn't manage to get back home because of infection risk I ended up with an induction. Only took a couple of hours though 😁

DS1 - drip after FTP. Ended in ECS. Not sure if my waters ever went.

DS2 had a dream that he was trying to claw his way out. Woke up in the early hours of Mon to waters trickling. MW checked (planned HB) that morning and confirmed it was my waters. They must have resealed because the trickled had stopped by Thu when I was induced for GBS. That didn't work well and my waters were broken again in labour on the Saturday night!

I had just got into bed and felt a painful twinge which I thought was just the baby moving uncomfortably but there was a gush of liquid. I thought initially I had wet myself but there was too much liquid! I was 37 weeks and had a EMCS.

Back ache started at 33 weeks, midwife and Dr brushed me off saying it was nothing. Week later, back was still hurting, washing up waiting for my tea to cook and had a little trickle, thought i pissed my self, went upstairs, sorted my self out, came back down and carried on washing up and it happened again. Went in with them still trickling and they properly went a few hours later when i was waiting on a bed in triage! Intrigued to see how pregnancy number 2 finale is going to go down!

I know this is a month old but thought I'd tell mine anyway!

I got up to make myself a cup of tea before my midwife appointment and started thinking my bladder has gotten incredibly weak, 2 seconds later a huge gush of water came and I realised that I was in labour. Went to hosp and they told me I was 7cm dilated and 5.5 hours later my DS was born. MIL always told me "your waters breaking isn't like it is in the movies"... she was wrong 🙄

Mine literally popped on Saturday night whilst happily watching tv in bed with DH & DDog. We heard a pop sound come from my abdomen, I stood up expecting nothing (38 weeks first baby), and there was the gush. Got to hospital by 10:30pm and little one arrived at 4:07am!

At 5am, lying in bed. Sounds nice?

Nope, we’d just got to bed at 4:30am after hours in hospital checking the baby owing to a bleed and lack of movement.

Came out with a gush, thought my insides were going to get caught up in the torrent!
