Yep... this is how the majority happen! Although you will most likely have to get out of the pool for it.

Yes. I've done this twice. I wanted to do the natural thing but both times I've looked up at the midwife very soon after delivery and said 'get it out of me'

Yes I had my baby on Wednesday in the pool. They actually gave me the injection while still in the pool, and as others have said got out to deliver placenta. By then I was all wrapped up having skin to skin and feeding baby, wouldn’t have wanted to still be in the water at that point really

Some years ago now but I had my DC1 in the pool and I was offered the injection. I didn't have it but did 'birth' the placenta on dry land.

I had the injection in the pool with dd, but can't remember where I actually birthed the placenta.
This time I didn't have an injection, but birthed it naturally in the pool. I wish I had though as the uncomfortable ache of it still being in there was horrible as it took a while.

You can have the injection, but as a midwife I would want to discuss with you whether you actually need it. The human body is amazing and if you have birthed well there is usually no reason to intervene. Ideally get baby skin to skin & nuzzling at the breast and let nature do it. Often if the placenta hasn’t spontaneously delivered after a reasonable time, it will do so if you get out & sit on the loo and pee.

I have had a water birth followed by active management of third stage. It was fine, I just got out of the pool for it. And by that point the water was looking decidedly like a soup made from my inners, so I wasn't overly desperate to marinate in it for long! Envy (not envy!)

I wanted a natural third stage with both of my babies... but first time I was induced with the drip so I was told the injection was "necessary". Second time I agreed to the injection beforehand with my midwife, this was due to having slightly low platelets and I conceded to the injection in exchange for being allowed to birth in a community birth center, so it felt like a good deal.

Both times it has been a relief to get the placenta birthed quickly and easily anyway! So as much as I always liked the idea of doing it as "nature intended", in the moment I didn't care so much about that!

I've just had this, I just had to get out of the pool for the 3rd stage :)

Yes, like several of the others I intended to go the natural route, but after getting out the water, I pretty soon just wanted to get out of there asap and asked for the injection!
