Morning all!
I'm about to start packing for my planned C-section on Tuesday
My hospital advises you take a small bag for immediately after, and leave a larger one in the car for your partner to fetch in later

But how do I know what I'll need immediately afterwards?! How many nappies, pads, etc?

Also I don't want to send OH out to rummage around in the boot just after baby is born, so can anyone give any advice please?

I had a elcs 11 days ago. To be honest straight after they have you on a bed pad and you also have a catheter in. No need for pads until you have your legs back !!
I was quite hungry but they brought me a sandwich and a drink. I can't say I needed anything until I got out of recovery, plenty of time for OH to get you your bag.
Good luck ! X

Definitely as pp said.
I was able to take my whole case with me and they kept it in a locker.
All they asked when we went into theatre was hair tied back!a hat and nappy for baby once your in recovery DD will be able to get your bags for you.
What I did was kept separate wash/dry bags in different colours for me and baby then DD just pulled out each bag for each of us.(you can get them from amazon) I'd recommend that once you've got all your bits and pieces together HE packs the bag with you that way he knows where everything is and can just pass to you.
Goodluck x

May not be helpful but I painstakingly packed beautiful hospital bags (planned c section, breech baby) and didn't use 90% of the stuff! Like others have said, with the catheter in, brand new baby on your chest and the spinal gradually wearing off.. I had enough to think about! Hospital was hot and you use a lot of fluid during the surgery so I was thirsty. Also packed some sweets which were good for energy after the nil by mouth.

Lovely pjs etc stayed in my bag! I stayed in my hospital gown for hours and hours. I don't think you will need much at all in the immediate aftermath. Best of luck!!

@busface999 same!its annoying isn't it when you spend ages prepping then when time comes you cant be bothered and just want to wash in your own home!
Definitely big pants x3 your normal size or c-section mesh pants but only use with non winged pad!

I would take 1 x sleepsuit, 2 nappies, a hat, your phone and something to do whilst you are waiting, i.e. book, magazine, colouring book & pens.

However I was told to bring a bag for theatre, nappies x2, sleepsuit for the baby, hat, phone etc. When I got the hospital, the midwife and consultant looked at me as if I'd lost the plot and said what do you want that lot for? Naked baby goes on naked chest, we cover you in a blanket and then your partner fetches your bags in recovery. I didn't get my bag until we got to recovery.

They gave me a load of hospital pads so I didn't need to use my own until we got home. They also bought tea and toast as soon as they decided I was okay which was quite fast and I was given water as soon as I got to recovery.

All they asked when we went into theatre was hair tied back

I've had my hair bands taken off me by two different anethestists during 2 different emergency sections. Strange how different hospitals do things differently isn't it.

It is every hospital is different had EMC first time round so didn't have a chance to think! Had hair down anyway
2nd time round thought I'd do my hair just to make me feel better!waste of time got told to tie it back Hubby had fish it out of my bag on way down! Was told no Nail varnish dont bother with toes your compression socks cover them!
