Spanx after birth

I remember when I had my DD, i had this really awful empty feeling in my stomach, like my insides had just dropped, which they had really lol with all the extra space!

Would it be a bad idea to wear tummy control / shapewear / spanx type under right after birth? I feel like it could hold everything in?? Rather than feel 'empty', and in turn hopfully not feel so sick. Or is that just silly thinking?? Im on about the undies that come right up to the bottom of your bra.

Also thinking theyll hold the maternity pads in place too!

Have you forgotten how messy it gets down there after birth, leaking pads, needing to change a lot, plus you really need as much air to circulate as you can especially if you have any stitches. I wouldn't.

I've just spent the day in Spanx. My outfit was comfortable, and the dress had some stretch to it. Spanx are not difficult to wear. But they are hassle to go to the loo in (I only went twice) and boy was I glad to peel them off when I got home. No way could I have worn them post-natally.

But I do get what you mean by that empty, saggy feeling. How about a air of good jeans instead? Mid-rise or waist-high.

Good pair of high waist cotton full briefs... In black.

No to spanx, they are a right faff when you need the loo! When I came home I wore workout leggings which helped hold my tummy in. Felt more secure.

Good luck to you

Two pairs of knickers really helps. (I felt like I needed a wheelbarrow for my stomach after my second birth!)

Mahoosuve sloggis

Spanx will be too tight but the concept is good!

What about some kind of belly band?

purplepolo · 20/10/2019 10:51

ElfishBiatch belly band is a good idea thank you!

I would look into a belly band - then you can keep the pants region comfy and aired out if necessary!
