Inductions

So booked in for an induction on the 25th. Has anyone here had fast natural labours before then had a fast induction too? My previous two labours was 6 hours and 5 hours. I seem to skip the 1st stage of labour 😂

If you are term I predict it will be very fast 😂

NotSoThinLizzy · 12/10/2019 16:57

I'll be 5 days off my due date 😊 so hoping for a fast one

If you are dilated enough (I never was) they may well just break your waters.

Always took me hours/days of being induced with agonising contractions to actually dilate enough to be in official labour, once in labour it was always very quick - 1 minute with #4. Waters broke, oh you're 8 Cm, oh crowning, oh here 😂 thank goodness I had got out the bath just before my waters broke and had made it to the delivery suite!

Depends on the reason why you have fast labours. If it’s to do with high blood pressure then the induction may take longer as they are really careful when monitoring it.

Just always been fast labour 😂. My hospital is a 3 hour drive away and so they want to make sure I'm at the hosp when I do go so hence the induction.

I was 42 weeks and it still took 2 days... However it was my first, and baby was sort of 'stuck'. I would say the fact that you've already had 2 babies and both were very quick, that your body is much more used to it, so will move along quickly

NotSoThinLizzy · 12/10/2019 17:20

Other two I was already there thankfully for something else so wasnt much of a problem

3 hours away 🙈 I assume you didn't want a homebirth then, or do you have a kit just in case 😳

NotSoThinLizzy · 12/10/2019 18:55

Consultant dosent want me to have a home birth because I have low pappA or would've been a nice idea

My induction in the end went from Weds-Sat. Failed 1st 24hrs round as cervix didn't open. 24hrs rest in-between. Started again Friday Eve and had DS Saturday eve. Dilated from 3-10cm in one hour

Nat6999 · 13/10/2019 02:22

Ask if you can have the gel or pessary & then go home overnight, being relaxed in your own environment might just kick things off better than being in hospital. Have they offered you any sweeps?

NotSoThinLizzy · 13/10/2019 09:05

3 hours away from hospital so no chance of me going away and coming back. Once I'm there itll be untill baby is born. 😊 so exciting.

Even though I had been booked in for ages on the actual indications day for 2 out of the 4 I was hanging around for hours waiting for a bed then sufficient staff to be free.

Once it's not your first they do seem to work on the principle that you could be in labour quickly so if they are busy they well keep you waiting before starting you off. Plenty of food, snacks, drinks and something to to IME.

If you are dilated to enough to break your waters they are likely just to do that. With my fastest labour it was still 8 hours of prostaglandin pain down my legs (tens machine was ace for womb ones) without any movement in my Bishops Score 😳🤬 it was still 1 and it was 1 before I got pregnant.

Lots of friends that were induced with #3 (or more) went in and discovered they were 2-3 Cm dilated already.

With all 4 I delivered without assistance so although it was lengthy getting into labour with 2 of them they were actually straightforward.

NotSoThinLizzy · 13/10/2019 11:11

My prevoius two I seemed to skip the 1st stages of labour completely. Went in with 1st was 4cm and my second I was 5cm. I'm hoping to be that lucky again 😊

My labours have been under half the length of yours (2.5 hours, 1.5 hours). I don’t know about how many centimetres because I’ve never had an examination to check. But I did have an induction of labour once when I lost a baby (before birth, and baby was very tiny, perhaps not comparable) and from pessary to placenta took under 30 minutes.

My friend had a twelve hour first labour and a 45 minute induction.

NotSoThinLizzy · 13/10/2019 14:00

Wow that's quick labour
