Injections after section

I had DD by sections on Friday and came home yesterday with some blood thinning injections to prevent blood clots. I'm ment to self inject but I just can't. I sat holding the needle for about 20 minutes and I just couldn't make myself, just ended up crying thinking about doing it.

I know it's irrational, and considering I've been cut open, had bloods taken, and been jabbed by midwifes several times (hate it but can cope) I should be fine with it. But I just can't.

Does anyone know how important the jabs are. I had for the two days in hospital, I'm moving around fine, and have been mobile since a few hours after the op, so I'm hoping the risk is low anyway even if I don't do it.

They are super important so really worth taking them, the hospital will give them to you if you need them too, and you might get lucky and save the journey if you have a nice gp or community nurse locally that would do it for you! Lots of people are petrified of needles, you are not the only one that struggles with self administering them for sure! Well done for giving it to yourself, there is def help there if you struggle with the rest!

If your midwifes are still coming out to you they can do them. If not getting someone else to do it while you look the other way was generally the easiest way for me. And even with them I had to be checked for a clot my clotting factor was sky high and I had other symptoms, was given a large dose and more to take home.. DP was laughing at me with the tiny needle considering 1. I’ve done 12 of my own piercings with much larger needles 2. Part of my job is injections/draws.. can I do it to my self.. can I fuck.

I'm gobsmacked by this! I had my baby in the US and didn't have to object myself. I had the injections a couple of times while I was in hospital, but they hurt and left fuck off massive bruises so I refused to have them and said I'd walk laps around the ward instead.

I'm a nurse and have injected hundreds of people but seriously could not inject myself. I would ask DH to do it

I had my husband do mine for me, there's instructions online if he struggles. Or your Mum.
Pinch an inch, hold the syringe perpendicular to the belly, jab and inject. Release skin and remove injection.

Hi everyone, just noticed the thread had reactivated. Baby is 6 weeks old now so injections are thankfully a few weeks behind us.

Got through the 10 day's, though can't say it got easier. Had to not only get someone else to do it, but also put my head under a blanket before they started opening the pack, as even the site of the box set me of panicking.

Thanks all the same for taking the time to answer, may help any future needle wimps who Google.

My OH was told to do mine buuut he was trying to be so careful hed do it painfully slowly and hurt me more so i just did it myself in the end

You can try numbing the area with an ice block wrapped in a tea towel if it’s fear of pain?

I did this when I started IVF but then once I was in the swing of it and post birth I had the same injections you have, it became normal. But that initial numbing took some of the panic away
