Has anyone done this and is this a thing?
I know that you can schedule a c section but keen to avoid c section if I can (though fine if needed obviously)
And other topic but anyone been induced? What was your experience of it?

I’m booked for induction on my due date, very common for induction to be booked where there are medical reasons to do so. Mine is for gestational diabetes and age factors.
They don’t do them on request though until overdue as far as I am aware.

I was booked to have one on my due date last time. It's pretty common.

Mine got moved up because of reduced movements so happens at 38 weeks instead.

I've been induced both time and personally I found it a fantastic positive experience. It can be a little scary and there are lots of horror stories of failed inductions etc but I found the hospital really supportive and the process wasn't too bad at all

Thank you so much for your responses, great to know that you had positive experiences.
Reason I am asking is I have the worst crippling back pain during pregnancy and the thought of going overdue freaks the hell out of me and the pain will be a lot worse by then as I will be a lot bigger.

Did either of you have epidurals with the inductions? Does it happen super quickly? X

I’ll tell you when it happens! 13 days to go! A lot has to do with the induction method used. I’m meant to be having the Foley catheter to open cervix and break waters.
The pessaries are more common I think but take a while. The drip is meant to be harder which is what I’ll have if breaking waters doesn’t work.
Epidural wise, I’ll have one if I need it I guess.

Are you getting any help for your back? I see a chiro every 5 weeks (see them when not pregnant too) and not had any aches or pains at all. I’d recommend doing something like that.

fancytiles · 30/08/2019 13:37

Yes would love to hear about it!
Have seen a chiro which has eased the pain a bit but it's still really there, and my usual go-to pain relief concoction of codeine / ibuprofen is not really an option in pregnancy. I'm hoping pain level is not relative to bump size x
