Cervix! Too high for sweep, too posterior- will it ripen? How long?

I am 40+5 today. First baby. Boy. Normal pregnancy so far.Yesterday I had some period type pain (very mild, perhaps brought on by uncomfortable movements) and more BH for past couple of days. I was encouraged by this. When MW tried sweep today she said my cervix was too high for her to reach and still posterior, not ready at all. This has really disheartened me. I’ve been doing everything (walks, sex, ball, dates, superstitious candle lighting and and imagining opening up..)
I have been booked for induction on Thursday (40+12, she said it was too busy to book for when I’m 42 weeks). I really want to avoid induction but I don’t want to put my baby in danger due to the placenta becoming less efficient. I have another sweep booked for Tuesday.
My question is: have any of you had this experience before, if so, how long did it take for your cervix to go from high up and not ready to ripe/being in active labour? Does this mean I’m far off or could it happen in a few hours? Any stories would help!

I really wouldn't worry. They could barely reach my cervix to put the pessary in to induce me (at 40+6 was induced for reduced movements). It was too close to permit a sweep at that time.
Within 12 hours I was 4cm and in active labour and baby was out 7 hours after that.
Your cervix can open very quickly within just a few hours or you can walk around at 4cm for weeks, it means nothing.
Also, induction isn't necessarily the big scary thing I thought it was (I imagined really painful, no choice about epidural, long labour ultimately ending in section) - mine was very quick and straightforward.
Baby will come when baby is ready. Trust your body x

Thanks for the reassurance @Hollywhiskey . I’m feeling more positive about induction now. Had some more crampy pains today and another attempt at sweep booked for Tuesday- hopefully the cervix will have done something by then!
