prolapse

Hi I am 11weeks pregnant and found out I have a bladder prolapse. This followed episodes of urinary retention and I feel constantly like I need to pee. The hospital have told me that nothing can be about this for the time being as it will obviously worsen as the pregnancy progresses. I'm struggling to cope with it and am in a lot of discomfort. I'm starting to feel pretty hopeless. I'm in so much discomfort and intense pain at times. I'm not even able to work at the minute.Has anyone else had a similar experience that could give me some hope? Is is something that you learn to cope with over time? Do you become less symptomatic on some days and get occasional relief from it? Any advice or words of hope would be appreciated.

Sorry to hear you're suffering so much with this. I ended up with a prolapse during my last pregnancy and whilst i didn't notice it that much I am now 33 weeks pregnant with my 4th and it has done nothing but cause me problems with the same symptoms you describe. I was advised to just keep on with pelvic floor exercises throughout pregnancy and after the birth they would see how bad it was. I'm not too bad some days but other days even standing up causes me agony, its all hit and miss. It shouldn't have any affect on a natural birth i think 9 months of carrying baby would cause more issues than a short burst of pushing but if you feel like its getting worse you can always speak to your midwife about an elcs. My midwife offered me one as my last baby that caused the prolapse was over 9lb and they expect the same with this one.

Hi thanks so much for replying and I'm really sorry to hear that you are going through this. I haven't been able to walk more than a few steps since Sunday. I'm waiting to start an antibiotic for a UTI and I'm really hoping that helps. The pain is like a burning sensation. Is that similar to how you feel?? Also I'm sorry if it too much for me to ask you but I was wondering if your prolapse has made an appearance externally? Mine has. That's good to know that you u were offered a section. Where I live they don't tend to give the option, but I have 5 other kids ranging in birthweight from 9lb 10oz - 10lb 13 oz and I usually always have bladder issues for a while after delivery, so would prefer section. The hospital have said there was no point in them referring me anywhere but I was going to see a private physio. Did you see physio or anyone else for advise?

I didnt see anyone for it last time i just spoke to the midwofe who said do pelvic floor exercises. This pregnancy has definitely been the hardest as like you i constantly feel like i need to pee and have just finished a course of antibiotics for a uti so tht probably didnt help. I sometimes feel like there is something externally there but it depends on where the wee one is sitting i think
