Hi I’m 4 weeks post section and I’ve had nothing but problems, my wound become infected and had 2 lots of antibiotics finished them and had my last visit off my midwife for discharge when she checked my wound and said it had got worse and there was gapping in the wound she swabbed it and sent me back to the hospital for it to be checked by a doctor. Doctor at the hospital said the wound doesn’t look infected but would wait for the swab to come back to see if anything grows on it but the wound looks very wet and red said to just keep clean and making sure it is dried properly also to air it out as much as possible.
Has anyone else had this problem this is my first section and I delivery naturally with my first, I’m just so fed up of the constant pain and weeping of the wound. We are into our 6 weeks holiday now and not being able to do much with my son is making me feel so guilty.

Any tips or advise anyone has to help with getting my wound Healed quick so I can get back to myself and be able to feel abit more human. Thanks

I feel your pain. My c section took 2 months to heal and I was on anti biotics too. I have no advice other than keep going back to the hospital. I must have seen about 6 different consultants all with varying degrees of knowledge on the subject of wounds.

I eventually saw one doctor who noticed that I had a clot and cleared it. It's only then that the wound started to heal.

The advice to air it when it's bleeding is pretty stupid imo however once the bleeding subsided then I was more comfortable with airing it out

The whole thing contributed to the extension of my PND - reminding me of a c section I did not want to have
Good luck x

Glad yours healed eventually, I didn’t want to have the section in the first place, I felt pretty much pressured into it by my consultant tbh, so to be going through this know is hard going. I will take the advice from the doctors onboard but I feel while the wound is weeping really badly I can’t see airing it out right now making much difference, my midwife said she thought that there was a stitch still there but they haven’t actually done anything with that and said it should heal better when it stops weeping!

Yeah, I was pressured into it too on account of having a low lying placenta. Reading up on it further, it's obvious I could have had a natural birth if I'd insisted on it. Lesson learned.

I hope your would heals soon. I'd ask for saline drops to cllean it. I was using alcohol wipes since the doctors didn't want to give me any dressings. Turns out you're not supposed to use those.

Anyway, best bet is to keep it clean - clean it a couple of times a day and let nature do its job. Hopefully the antibiotics do their job

First section took 5 months to heal, this time it's been 4 months and it's just about there. Both times have started with poor healing then infection has fully broken the wound down and it's taken a long time of packing and dressing but had got there eventually! Be patient it will get there!
