Infection?

I'm 3.5 weeks post c-section and pretty much back to normal (I seem to bounce back quickly!) However, today the very end of my scar (little 1cm section) stings a bit, is a bit red and there's a tiny bit of pus. I'm otherwise fine. Would you (and WHEN would you) do anything about this? I'm generally a "wait and see" person when it comes to ailments, but I don't want to under-react.

Would you try and get it checked out now, or hang fire over the weekend and see what it's doing on Monday? (Obviously there's out of hours if it suddenly gets a lot worse, but it's definitely not that bad yet!)

Get it seen today. You cant be too careful with imfections on scars that are for deep internal cuts. Do you have a temperature? If you do, that makes it even more urgent.

Ah, nuts. I was worried people might say that. I don't have a temperature - I'm absolutely fine apart from this little red gross bit! But I guess I can't assume it's only surface. I'm not even sure who to call. I've been discharged from the midwives and there's no way in hell I'm getting a GP slot before Monday...

I would keep it clean and wait and see. Keep an eye of your temp and take a pic of the suspect bit of your scar so you have something to compare to over the weekend.

Pus = infection

How are you OP?

TheCuriousSofa · 17/07/2019 11:00

I'm fine! I decided to be cautious and called the GP - turns out if you say "c-section" and "infection" they will give you a 5pm same-day appointment! He was very underwhelmed as it was pretty minor, but gave me a course of antibiotics because - as PP said - pus = infection. Halfway through the course but it's already pretty much healed. Was definitely right to call them though.
