Inductions

Can someone talk me through their induction please? I vaguely understand if technically but I'd like to know how it worked for people in real life too. I've been booked in for Friday to have one, but a lady who was being induced last night freaked me out a bit with how much noise she made and how much pain she was in just during the sweep (The midwife tried to give me a sweep yesterday but the head wasn't engaged so she couldn't reach or something? So I don't know if she was exaggerating the pain or if I should be scared now!)
Any personal experiences, good or bad, shared would be lovely thank you

I was induced on the drip. It was quite a straightforward process I guess - they explain it all to you, drip goes in and then every 20 minutes they crank up the level if nothing is happening. I was somewhat immune to it at first- got all the way to the top level and stayed there for a while before contractions started. Then they all seemed to come at once which was super painful! I opted for pethidin as pain relief but wouldn't recommend - it made me feel really weird. Wish I'd gone for the epidural! You can't eat during an induction on the drip so I did get very hungry and my delivery was horrible but I don't think that was down to the induction. I was in labour for 38 hours all told and pushed for what felt like several years of my life but others I've spoken to found it a fairly quick process. I'd advise having a hearty meal before you go in. Good luck!

Wow 38 hours is a long time! Hoping it's a bit quicker but I guess I also don't want the pain to come all at once like yours did! I'm awful with pain, should have thought about that before I got pregnant though 😂

If you have the drip the contractions will be extremely painful, like normal contractions on steroids x1000. Get an epidural definitely, don't try to be a hero. Epidural & induction will make it more likely that you will have interventions but basically that's usually the outcome when you're induced. Not trying to scare just prepare!

I had a pessary induction and it worked well. It was my second and the contradictions were faster and stronger but I give birth quickly. My first was 3hrs and my second was 67mins. Pessary was given at 12:05 am.

I had an epidural and it worked very well. First birth no painkiller other than gas and air.

Had my induction!
No pain relief as they wouldn't give me any and then when they finally offered an epidural I couldn't stay still long enough as I was having involuntary pushing contractions
