Induction vs C Section

Has anyone had experience in requesting a C Section at 40+7-10 rather than having an induction.

I’ve been messed around, was due to have a section almost 2 weeks ago at 38 weeks due to low lying placenta. Due to availability was messed around, scanned again told no c section. Due to a few other issues, prev back trauma & surgery, anxiety, issues airing spinal block/epidural due to scar tissue, placenta still low even though now apparently not ‘too low’ I said I wanted a c section anyway, was told no.

Seeing consultant again tomorrow 2 days before due date, baby feels even less engaged and all over the place so can’t see it happening this week.

Midwife said generally they won’t offer c section over induction but wondered if anyone had any experience in getting it?

I don't have any experience, but you have to give your consent to any treatment. You can refuse consent for an induction and they cannot make you have one. Technically, you don't have the right to demand treatment (though you can absolutely refuse it) but they won't allow you to go over your due date and put you at risk, even if you refuse their preferred treatment option.

The NICE guidelines (which are just guidelines, but which they really should be following) say that if your consultant won't agree to the birth option you want, they should refer you to someone else. So I would suggest: clearly stating that you refuse consent to an induction; do not entertain the suggestion of one and have your midwife record in your notes that you do not consent to one. Then, if they still say they won't offer a section, ask them who they will be referring you on to as per NICE guidelines. Then repeat, doggedly.

@TheCuriousSofa thank you.

I have to discuss my notes with consultant too as at my last appt I clearly said a number of times I wanted a c section, she said no. When I got home I read my notes which stated ‘explained that it’s now possible to attempt a vaginal delivery & potential complications & S has opted for a vaginal delivery at this stage.
Then she disappeared on holiday for 2 weeks!
