Waiting for waters to be broken - fed up

I'm currently in hospital waiting for my waters to be broken and I'm so fed up I could cry. It's my first baby and when I was told I'd be induced I didn't expect such a wait for things to get moving. I got here on Tuesday night and had a pessary put in and this morning after an examination they let me know I was added to the list to get my waters broken, however, due to staff shortages it could take days until there is a bed free for me. I'm apparently number 9 on the list but they've not taken anyone in at all today. The thought that I might not be out until the weekend or possibly later is daunting, I'm so homesick already and feel like I'm wasting a bed just waiting for another.

Have you had a similar experience? Hmm

I can relate to this. When I had my daughter I went in at 40+14 to be induced (their preference, not mine) and ended up waiting on the ward for 2 days as everyone else was a higher priority than me. Self discharged on the first night as didn’t fancy spending the night on the ward, or beginning induction overnight! I didn’t have a pessary (went straight to the waters breaking stage) so was allowed home (well, officially “against medicinal advice”). Came back next day, waited again all day then finally they said it was my turn at 6pm 🤨. Not impressed, but by this point I was so fed up just wanted it over!

Quick labour overall, DD was born naturally by 7am the next day.

Also they will say you can have 2 hrs from water breaking for contractions to start, but you can ask for 4 if you’re keen to avoid the drip. I ended up with 6hrs as they were so busy, which was just enough time for things to get going by themselves.

Let us know how it goes. Fingers crossed for you x

It's such a nightmare! Glad your birth overall went well :) I'm planning for an epidural and anything that will help bring on contractions, feel like I've been pregnant for 3 years and just want her out now haha fingers crossed late tomorrow night they'll see me (although I think I'm kidding myself with that)

Sort of - was induced with gel. I jumped the queue to get upstairs by going into labour properly, plus a bit more blood than ideal starting to come...

Recommend lots of walking, bouncing on ball and being upright as much as possible. Did about a million laps of the antenatal ward!
