Hi all,
I'm a first time mom, 32 weeks 3 days, and looking into my different birthing options. I would like to buy a book on hypnobirthing as I would quite like to try this out as my birth plan, but would like to read a book on it first as I can not afford to pay for the classes.

There are LOADS of books on hypnobirthing, please can any of you mummies suggest the best one to buy?

Thanks
Sam x Smile

I've read quite a few and in all honesty, ditch the book in favour of the positive birth company's online course. It's £35 and better than any book I have read 😁.
If you have your heart set on a book I would probably go with Katherine Graves. Marie Mongan was a bit to airy fairy for me and Maggie Howell was quite good too x

I really like the Maggie Howell birth preparation book and CD. They also do a labour companion CD that is really helpful to listen to during labour.

I second the Positive Birth Company’s online course, really easy to use and I found it very helpful.

Our local hospital did a hypnobirthing course and they only charged £50 to cover the cost of the book.

Another vote for the positive birth company online course.

If you really can only afford a book, Milli Hill's The Positive Birth Book is my hypnobirthing bible and basically covers everything on actual courses.

I'd start asap as it's important to take time to shift your mindset. If you can afford the £30 for the online course it's worth every penny.

I have a 2 week old and did hypnobirthing. So a pretty recent experience and I used the Katherine graves book - I really liked it and found it really easy to read and really helpful! I had a woman come to our house so my husband could be involved (he point blank just does not read books so something more practical for him was best for us!) and the course pretty much just covered the book! He loved it and felt so empowered by all he learnt so I would recommend your OH reads the book too or at the least make sure you tell him the basics of each chapter! I also did daisy birthing classes, not sure if they have those where you are but worth looking up! Those combined with my KG book/course I’m sure are the reason I had a birth using just gas and air and I was 10cm when I got to the hospital! I have heard gd things about the positive birth company too I bought their little positive birth affirmations cards and stuck them up around my bedroom Grin whatever you go with good luck!!

I had Sophie Fletcher's Mindful Hypnobirthing as an audiobook, I would definitely recommend getting an audio over a conventional book as the chapters and exercises flow nicely together. The books come with mp3 files but there are shorter exercises included in the chapters as well.

Another vote for the positive birth compact digital pack.
