Abnormally large bump.. earlier birth?

I've attached a photo of myself.. please be kind - I am only 29 weeks and I am carrying ONE child, yes one child.. and I am stupendously large.

I don't think I can get much bigger but I have 11 weeks to go and does anyone think baby will run out of room and arrive around 37-39 weeks? Bit earlier? Just a theory and I know everyone carries differently but I can barely cope as it is being so large let alone thinking how big I'll be at 40wks. I feel like there is no space left in my tummy that she won't get to 40wks lol.. anyone else been similar or have any info? Thank you x

Weirdly enough, I gave birth early and did have a ginormous bump (average sized baby though). Probably coincidence.

I don't think so. Mil had larger bumps... all late babies 1-3 weeks late.

She also saw a woman who looked like she was carrying twins. Single pregnancy, also a late birth.

But then I had a small bump and was 9 days late. Totally random luck I'm guessing.

Generally if all your antenatal checks are normal and the fundal height measures within a normal range and growth curve, the size of a bump (in terms of how it looks) doesn’t impact on when the baby arrives. All women carry babies differently .

Best wishes with your baby! X

You do have a big bump OP (in a nice way Smile!) congrats on your pregnancy.

Are you coming up big when the midwives measure you? Do they seem concerned? How tall are you? as I wonder if that makes a difference...

You are very very gorgeous too!

mynameiscalypso · 09/06/2019 19:18

Has the midwife measured you recently? I only ask because I'm 29 weeks and by bump is measuring on the 95th percentile but it's not in your league! I panicked when I saw this week that baby is going to double in size between now and 40 weeks...as the others have said though, you look bloody gorgeous!

You are quite likely to have polyhydramniosis (too much amniotic fluid) rather than a huge baby. It's usually spotted at about the stage you're at now. There is a somewhat increased chance of an early birth but not necessarily a big baby.

Have you got a midwife appointment soon?

anothernotherone · 09/06/2019 19:25

I had a big bump and a slightly bigger than average baby (not polyhydramniosis - a friend of mine had that and a beautiful shape bump like yours). My bump wasn't that neat shape - the baby was mostly lying sideways rather than head down, making the bump look massive but not neat like yours. It was position not baby size in my case, though she was 9lb exactly (bigger than average but not by much)

She was born at 41+5 so didn't contribute to an earlier birth.

My friend with polyhydramniosis was induced at 40 weeks exactly. Her baby was fine and a healthy weight. She was struggling with mobility at the end of her pregnancy but also fine.

Congrats on your pregnancy. I had a 52 and a 54 inch bump by full term. Both pregnancies were all upfront and no real weight gain elsewhere till last few weeks. First was very late, second 38 weeks.. So no trend for me. My 2nd pregnancy I looked full term at 30 weeks and only crept up slightly... You might be the same

I think you look fab!

anothernotherone · 09/06/2019 19:29

On the other hand are you 4 ft 10 and a size 4? Another friend of mine was and unfortunately looked as though the bump had entirely taken over by term - it was just the bump to body ratio, her baby was a tiny bit under 7lb, full term, and her bump looked massive on her but wouldn't have on a 5 ft 7, size 12 mother.
