Hi just looking to see if anyone has been in this position before...

My dh is sue to start police training (mandatory 16 weeks-no holiday etc...) on or around the end of June...

Problem is im due with our first baby on August the first...

Im looking to see if anyone else has ever been in this position as basically im thinking that he's not gonna be able to make it to the birth with the all important training he has to attend...

Will the training at least allow a day off for it??

Any other lovley police wives been in this position??

Im getting anxious tbh as this is my first birth and i never envisioned being alone for it... I wouldn't really want anyone else there as im just of a mind set that if you weren't at the conception you shouldnt be at the birth... (Medical staff excluded of course) and the idea of my mum or his mum or his sister (his suggestions) being there is worse than the thought of doing alone... I dunno why just how i feel...

The option for him to go on the next intake isn't really there as the next intake wont be for a year and he hates hates his current job ( i used to work there too so i know how awful it is) its also worse than shit pay and involves nearly an hours commute which really burns up the little cash he makes as we're really rural atm...

Rambling at bit now (pregnancy brain)... But the basic question ...has anyone been or knows of anyone thats been in this position??? What happened??

Thanks for reading xx

Sorry not been in the position or know anyone who has, but could he speak to the HR department to get a clearer idea of what he's entitled to?
For example, If he came down very ill during training would he be allowed a day off and continue the training after or would he have to start from scratch on the next intake?

Hiya. He needs to speak to the HR department (by e-mail preferably, always get everything in writing!).
He’s unlikely to qualify for any paternity leave due to the short amount of time he’ll have been with them and they like full commitment on these courses which is understandable.
I know of people who have had the odd day off sick / family emergency whilst completing their training and it honestly wasn’t the end of the world. For the sake of one day he’ll be able to catch up.
It’s a shame the next intake is such a long way away otherwise I’d suggest he defer to that one.
How do you feel about him just having the one day off?

Hi thanks for the replies...

We knew this might have been an issue a while ago but didn't have a solid start date till recently... So leave is not much of a problem as i accepyed that a while ago and afore mentioned family members will be around to help.... Its literally just the birth itself im worried about....

The offer hasn't come through in writing yet so we dont want him to be emailing them about it till it has...

The whole thing just has come down to piss poor timing lol x
