Don't want baby to have my microbiome

I know it is important for the baby to get microbes during birth but I have IBS, bowel disease, obesity (not because of what I eat) and autism. Absolutely the last thing I want my baby to get from me is my gut bacteria. Has anyone else got this issue? I am on kefir and prescription level probiotics, plenty of veggies, nuts and prebiotics but my guts are still a mess with lots of food sensitivities. This is my first pregnancy and I am 26 weeks. Is there anything reasonable I can do? I am looking to have a vaginal birth in hospital due to concurrent health issues and history of bowel resection surgery.

Hi OP, as far as I'm aware, the only way to stop the baby getting your microbiome during birth would be to have an ELCS. I have read up on gut bacteria stuff due to health issues I have myself but the problem is that the knowledge is still really basic - it's still a fairly new scientific field so I doubt many of the doctors and midwives you come across will know much about it! Not all of the health issues you mention might even be due to your gut bacteria, so you may even be worrying unnecessarily. Are you seeing someone about your guts at the moment (you said you're on prescription strength probiotics)? What do they say?
