Hello,

Can anybody recommend some good maternity pads? I'm packing the hospital bag today so hoping to get it all boxed off in one go :) I'm within easy reach of Asda, Aldi, Morrisons, Wilkos and Boots.

Thank you :) x

I found boots the best and have bought 6 packs ready for arrival of DC2

I just used heavy flow sanitary pads and these were fine but boots ones seemed good, used a few as had bought them!!!

I used Boots Ultra Slim maternity pads, and wore them with Tena disposable pants. They worked a treat together! I never leaked, even with a second degree tear and heavy blood loss.

Then slowly ‘graduated’ to just the pads without the Tena pants.

Asda’s Maternity pads are also almost identical to the boots ones.

Exciting times!

Brilliant, Boots it is! Thank you ladies. Going to pop out now.

Hahahaha exciting times indeed 😩

I got natracare ones from amazon as my midwife advised me to get ones with a cotton top.

One of the reasons for getting specific maternity ones is that standard sanitary pads have a plastic mesh over the top which increases the risk of infection when part of your uterus is a raw wound. If you do trade down to regular sanitary pads after the first few weeks you want organic/cotton ones.

I found Boots own brand great.

I use boots and Asda I do prefer boots but they are both good x

I didnt like the slim boots ones. I think I got my favourites from a supermarket, maybe asda.. I got the really big fat ones and they were great because the cushioned my stitches as well.

Mumof1andacat · 14/04/2019 23:39

I found boots too bulky. I preferred asda

I gave birth on Saturday night to my dc2 and was recommended to use Tena lady pants. Best thing ever as there's no messing about. Slip them on and off. Plus no leakage like with pads. Highly recommend them!

I like the big fat squashy ones, I got some in Tesco and some in boots and they were identical. I then moved on to slim Tesco ones and have gone back - the slim ones were more plasticky and felt very itchy/ irritating to me.

I liked the Kotex ones, but they are very thick and did move around a lot, so after a few days I got the Tena lady pant style ones and what a relief! They aren’t the most flattering but who cares at that stage, they are a nice thickness and they don’t move around either. Only downside I found is they are quite pricey for only a few pairs

I've used both boots and natracare this time round and love them both, no difference between them other than I like the fact that the natracare are organic. However, if I'd lived closer to a Mothercare, I would have chosen theirs.
They do an amazing pack that have aloe Vera in them and they were great with my last birth, especially after having a second degree tear and three lots of stitches!
