Failed Induction

Am now on my 4th day on the induction ward, have had the 24 hr pessary & three prostins over the last three days, had a few mild contractions, backache & cramps but they all just tailed off 😕 looks like I'm going to be booked in for a section later today, this is the exact opposite of what I had hoped this birth would be 😔 Also doesn't help that I hate medical procedures and get very nervous and anxious if anything needs to be done to me. Not sure why I'm posting, guess I could do with some positive vibes right now

I had an emcs for failure to progress after induction (my waters broke spontaneously but no contractions).

In all honesty, it was fine! I recovered pretty quickly and was never in huge amounts of pain. Several of my friends who had vaginal deliveries took longer to recover than I did.

I appreciate this might not be what you would have chosen but a section can be a really positive experience and you'll be meeting your baby soon! Best of luck!

@Helga55 thinking of you - EMCS May be the best way to go - I was in a similar position after 24hrs of pessary & three gels, they decided they could break my waters (just) went to delivery & they did it (very painful as cervix was not ready) then had two hours where nothing happened, so they started the drip - which they said has a maximum of 12hrs - 12hrs later of 5 in ten contractions I was no further on - they gave me 3 more hours when I got to 4cm - all though this they were saying failed Induction- c-section at next visit (every 3hrs etc) anyway after 16hrs and 40 mins - of the drip I got to 10 and we got into the pushing stage, which was then quick. But stressful & long, babies heart rate was dipping etc etc it felt like cause it was over night the reg did not want to call a c-section even though there was many clinical signs to call it, even before the waters were broken as was only 1cm then.

So if offered it may be a better option as the next stage - drip etc may or may not work.

See what they say at next stage - & although the labour may not be the way you hoped, the outcome is the main thing & the doctors would not advise C Section lightly.

It's nearly 4 years since I was where you are now and I remember it vividly.

On the plus side, when it was time for the EMCS, I loved it and my memories of the actual birth are great. I was breastfeeding in recovery and the whole thing was a lot better than I'd been led to believe in antenatal class.

Sending you a virtual handhold, Flowers and best wishes

They won't give you a drip unless you are dilating same with breaking your waters ((in my experience)). I was the same, except nothing happened at all. No contractions, zero dilation. I had a c-section and it was fine, happy healthy baby, good recovery. Good luck!

Good luck. I had a failed induction with my youngest. Ended up with an emcs after 4.5 hours on the drip.
