Apps for birth and newborn days...

Has anyone used any apps for birth ie contraction timers, or apps for post birth recording feeds / sleeping patterns... I’m due soon and wondering if I could download anything that might be useful?

I'm due in a few weeks, I've downloaded the Freya app from the positive birth company as i did the online hypnobirthing course. Impressed with it from what I've seen, it counts you through the contractions and is really calming.

Baby Tracker is good and you can sync it with partner so you can both add stuff and see the data.

Use an app Baby feeder great for tracking feeds on breast or bottle, adding in nappies and medicine given , it’s £5.99 but you can do a free 7 day trial ... and links in with partners phone.

For contractions I just used my stop watch on my phone and logged it on notes. But an app would have been better as was hard going to catch breath and note it down before the next one started when it really kicked up too full labour.

I use baby tracker. I only record the feeds (rather than nappies and sleep too) but I've found it useful. My dd generally only feeds from one breast per feed so it's useful as a reminder as to what breast to start the next feed on.

Thank you all so much for the quick replies... I’ll get downloading and have a practice with them!

NHS squeezy app for your pelvic floor exercises- important before and after birth!

For contractions I used a very basic (aka free Wink) one called Contraction Timer - Time labour. It did duration and intervals so I had a good summary for when we got to the hospital without having to think. A vast improvement over pen and paper from the first time round!

Get your birth partner to fuss about timing contractions. It would be a distraction for you.

IMHO apps for recording sleep and feeds, weight etc post-birth just add to anxiety. Unless you are put on a plan to address weight loss (we were, had to feed every 3 hours and record timings and nappies) then you're better off just having a rough idea that the baby's done enough poos and wet nappies that day.

You need to learn what your individual baby does, what normal looks like for them and to rely on instinct about whether anything is amiss. Look at the baby, not the phone app.
