Hello mums. I am looking for hospital in London to get the best pregnancy care and give a birth? I live in North West London but I don't mind travelling a bit further in order to get good care.Any recommendations? I am looking for NHS.

Can you pick any hospital?

HelenOn · 03/04/2019 17:44

I found Chelsea and Westminster fantastic - Probably because it's a posh area with a private section attached!

Lindo ? If it's good enough for the Royals....

oh sorry, NHS. Ignore me.

Are you intending to have an ELCS or give birth vaginally?

If the latter, your best hospital is probably the closest one. You are not going to want to travel a long distance in labour or indeed for your prenatal appointments. If you are having an ELCS NHS facilities won't vary that much either.

Look at the statistics and ratings for NHS hospitals on Which? Birth Choices. In general they're much of a muchness in NW London on most things unless you end up with a very complex high risk pregnancy or very premature baby and need a specialist centre.

It's very unlikely your back issues would cause you to be unable to give birth vaginally. Back issues are very common and women with them give birth every day.

Honestly, unless there are big differences in outcomes between your local hospitals (unlikely), distance to hospital will need to be your prime criteria. Everyone wants 'the best pregnancy care' and NHS hospitals provide it as best they can.

I gave birth five years ago, and my local hospital was Northwick Park which I wasn't happy with - we went to Queen Charlotte's which was really good

I am very close to Norhwick Hospital but I have heard many bad reviews for this hospital and that's why decided to ask you guys for any other hospital recommendations

Northwick Park is shocking, Hillingdon is marginally better. I’ve had multiple level spinal fusion surgery and it was decided very early on that an elective caesarean would be the safest option. The Queen Charlotte was amazing

Thanks for your reply CatToddlerUprising.
I have two herniated spinal discs with trapped nerve and have a very low sensitivity on my left leg.
The surgeon was going to put implants between the spinal discs which is a complicated surgery but somehow I managed to avoid the surgery a few years ago but I still have this problem and every winter when the weather gets colder I am in pain because of that. That's why I think an elective caesarean would be the best option for me but the question is where ?
Many people recommended Queen Charlotte and I might go there
Thank you
