Induction - anything I can do to help the process?

Being induced Monday, 38 weeks so conscious my body really isn't ready yet.

Anything I can do to aid the process?
Should I keep on my feet once the pessary is in? Should I relax? Positions?

Or is it just a case of what happens will happen, and no matter what I do, it'll do its own thing?

I was induced at 38+1 and I was absolutely terrified that I'd be in for days however within an hour of the pessary being in I was in full blown labour and 3 and abit hours later he pretty much flew out. I did nothing I was laid down being monitored for an hour after the pessary being inserted as soon as I stood up after being took off the monitor it kicked off. I had been drinking raspberry leaf tea for a few weeks not sure if that helped Smile

I walked for bloody miles after the pessary was in, didn't make any difference and I then needed 2 rounds of gel to get things going.
But, baby was well positioned and I pushed her out fairly easily so perhaps being upright helped with that aspect?
It was also nice to get some fresh air and get off the ward for a bit.

I had also been on the raspberry leaf tea and eating lots of dates, don't think I'd bother with that again as it was not to my taste and a bit of a struggle!

I've done the positive birth company hypnobirthing course and she talks about having a positive induction.

She suggests keeping upright and forward, not on your back in a bed and doing all the things to increase your oxytocin to help. So using a birth ball, nice snacks, favourite music, nice smells, dim lighting, breathing and relaxation, massage etc etc. No personal experience but it makes sense that by being relaxed and increasing oxytocin it can only help!
