Induction at 37 weeks - any tips?

I'm due to be induced on Monday at 37+4 weeks due to 'abnormal doppler reading' that was picked up at a 36 week growth scan. Baby is a good size (6lbs 11oz was the estimate) so no worries about growth/development, but concerns about the abnormal doppler developing into a more serious problem later on.

My midwife said she expected that they hospital would take and 'active management' approach and It's unlikely that I'll be waiting around but I'm just wondering if anyone has any tips or info about being induced at this stage?

Most of the information I've found is geared towards being induced due to going past the due date, which obviously isn't my issue!

Hi I was induced at 37+0 due to iugr. Any tips I can would be take plenty of things to keep your mind occupied ! iPad , magazines etc. comfy clothes as you could be waiting around a while . My induction took 29 hours Confused a few sweeps , pessaries , waters burst by consultant then I was finally put on the drip and had baby 4 hours later Thanks

Agree with the above - entertainment, snacks and comfy clothes!
I took my own pillow which helped with getting a bit of sleep on a not so comfy bed.
Hope your induction is a swift one! x

I was induced at 38 weeks for pre-eclampsia. My tip would be to go for a nice long walk after the pessary goes in. I did this (and walked energetically down as many stairs as possible) and things moved along nicely. Pessary in at 10, baby born at 6.30pm.

Thanks! I'm preparing all my entertainment options! Luckily the hospital is a teaching hospital linked to the university both my DH and I work at so we can use the internet! Comfy clothes and snacks are packed too! I'm not keen on hospitals and don't want to be stuck there any longer than I need to be!
So excited but a little nervous! Can't wait to meet my little sausage!
@bumpyknuckles was that 10am that the pessary went in? Same day would be the dream. Will plan on marching about the hospital most of Monday Grin

It was 10am when the pessary went in. I walked around the hospital grounds right after they put it in (probably about a mile), returned for lunch and a sit down, then walked around again. Halfway through the second lap my contractions started.
