Think I've just had a show...

Apologies, I know there are hundreds of posts on this already but...
...it's my due date today (1st baby) and I think I had a 'show' about an hour ago. Sorry if TMI but it was a couple of teaspoons of mucus and was sort of brown stained. Does that sound like a show? I have had heavier discharge for a couple of days but nothing like this.

Also, my pregnancy book says to 'tell your healthcare provider' if you have a show. There's no need for me to do that is there? I think the book is partly for the US market so maybe different there (I'm in UK)

I know it can be a couple of weeks between a show and labour so not getting too excited yet (but trying to decide whether to still go into town to meet friends for lunch...)

Sounds like a show to me,

When i had my show, i had a big lump of it (tmi) and then carried on losing bits over 5 days finally went into labour on the 6th day.

Go and have lunch with your friends, there no need not to go.

Sounds like it to me.

I would just continue with your plans for today, unless you start getting some contractions

Hopefully its that start of things for you.

i got a show then went into labour about two hours later with my first son, so i suppose anything could happen

good luck!

Sounds like a show. Go to lunch. Do normal things. It could still be days (sorry!) so continue on as usual and don't forget to keep us posted.

Go and have a lovelty sleep, then go to lunch, and have something hot and delicious, then come home and have another lovely lie dow with a book, possibly asnother sleep.

Does sound like a show - but it might be another day or two yet.
REST.

Thanks everyone. Yes, I know I might well be here asking about induction in a couple of weeks time but nice to know that something might be happening! I will let you know if it does...

Sounds like a show to me too, I had a "show" with DS#1 30 hours before he was born, I didn't continue to lose discharge just a big lump of it like pucca, but I did normal things I went shopping, walked all round town for about 6 hours (more than likely helped it along) then I had I nice long late afternoon nap, next morning labour pains had him 4 hours later! Do normal things but if you go out take your MAT-notes with you, and is your bag packed?

MarsLady · 11/07/2007 16:58

And why would you ask about induction? Don't you worry honeysuckle... long way to go before that (if that!)

How was lunch?

Catz · 11/07/2007 20:13

Thanks for the messages. No more news I'm afraid (but a nice lunch thanks Marslady!) save that I've just had another 'show' of about the same amount again...

We've just been for a huge long walk (2hrs) so hopefully that might help. Actually it wasn't meant to be such a long walk but ended up getting lost and having to climb over a fence to get onto the path we knew (not recommended at 40 wks!) so I'll see whether that encourgages anything!

Long walks simply make you tired honey! So... save the walking for when the contractions start.

Glad you had a good lunch. More of the same advice really. Just keep getting on with rl. Is your bag packed? Have you got your snacks and drinks in the fridge?
